Which manufacturing companies sponsor H-1B visas in South Carolina?
Several large manufacturers in South Carolina have a track record of H-1B visa sponsorship, including BMW Manufacturing in Spartanburg, Boeing in North Charleston, Michelin North America in Greenville, and Bosch in Anderson. These companies regularly hire engineers and technical specialists in roles that qualify as specialty occupations under H-1B requirements. Sponsorship is not guaranteed and depends on the specific role, business need, and employer policy at the time of hiring.
Which cities in South Carolina have the most manufacturing H-1B sponsorship jobs?
The Greenville-Spartanburg metro area is the most active region for manufacturing H-1B sponsorship in South Carolina, driven by the concentration of automotive and tire manufacturing facilities. Charleston is a secondary hub, particularly for aerospace and defense manufacturing. Columbia and the Anderson-Greenwood corridor also see activity, especially in automotive supply chain and industrial equipment manufacturing.
How do I find manufacturing H-1B sponsorship jobs in South Carolina?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship type and industry, making it straightforward to browse manufacturing H-1B roles in South Carolina without sorting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. You can narrow results by city or sub-sector, such as automotive, aerospace, or industrial equipment, to focus on employers actively hiring international candidates for specialty occupation roles in the state.
What types of manufacturing roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship in South Carolina?
Roles that most commonly qualify are those requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific technical field. In South Carolina manufacturing, this includes mechanical, industrial, electrical, and materials engineers, quality assurance engineers, manufacturing process engineers, and production systems specialists. General assembly, production operator, and supervisory roles that don't require a degree in a specific discipline typically do not meet the H-1B specialty occupation standard.
Are there any state-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in South Carolina's manufacturing sector?
South Carolina does not have a state-level work authorization program, so H-1B sponsorship follows standard federal USCIS requirements regardless of location. One practical consideration is that many SC manufacturing facilities are located outside major metros, which can affect prevailing wage determinations since the Department of Labor calculates wages by geographic area. Candidates should confirm that the specific worksite location is reflected accurately in the Labor Condition Application filed by the employer.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B manufacturing jobs in South Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
