Which companies sponsor visas for technical program managers in South Carolina?
Blackbaud and Benefitfocus in Charleston have a track record of H-1B visa sponsorship for technical program managers in the software and nonprofit-tech sectors. In Columbia, SCANA-affiliated and defense contractors supporting Fort Jackson and Shaw Air Force Base occasionally sponsor for these roles. Larger national employers with South Carolina operations, including Michelin's North American headquarters in Greenville, also file H-1B petitions for program management positions.
Which visa types are most common for technical program manager roles in South Carolina?
The H-1B is the most common visa for technical program managers in South Carolina, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field and qualifies as a specialty occupation. Candidates already holding L-1B or O-1 visa status may also find employers willing to maintain or transfer those visas. Canadian and Mexican nationals in this role sometimes pursue TN visa status under the USMCA engineer or computer systems analyst categories, depending on how the employer defines the position.
Which cities in South Carolina have the most technical program manager sponsorship jobs?
Charleston leads for technical program manager sponsorship, driven by a concentration of software companies, defense technology firms, and a growing startup ecosystem. Columbia sees demand from state government IT contractors, defense-adjacent employers, and healthcare technology firms. The Greenville-Spartanburg corridor, anchored by manufacturing technology and automotive suppliers, also generates program management roles, particularly for companies managing large-scale engineering or operations programs.
How to find technical program manager visa sponsorship jobs in South Carolina?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to browse technical program manager roles in South Carolina without sifting through positions that do not sponsor. You can narrow results by city, narrowing your search to Charleston, Columbia, or Greenville based on where you want to work. Because sponsorship status is surfaced upfront, Migrate Mate saves time that would otherwise be spent reaching out to employers only to confirm they do not sponsor.
Are there any state-specific considerations for technical program managers seeking visa sponsorship in South Carolina?
South Carolina does not impose additional state-level work authorization requirements beyond federal visa rules, but the local hiring market has some distinct characteristics. The state's defense sector, centered around Joint Base Charleston and Shaw Air Force Base, often requires security clearances that can complicate or limit sponsorship for foreign nationals. University pipelines from Clemson University and the University of South Carolina supply technical talent and occasionally connect international graduates with in-state employers open to sponsoring program management roles.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored technical program manager jobs in South Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
