Which transportation companies sponsor F-1 STEM OPT visas in Tennessee?
Tennessee's transportation and logistics sector includes several employers with documented F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship activity. FedEx, headquartered in Memphis, regularly hires for engineering and data analytics roles that qualify under STEM OPT. Nissan North America's Smyrna manufacturing and logistics operations, Amazon's regional fulfillment network, and UPS's Nashville-area operations are also active in STEM-designated transportation hiring. Smaller third-party logistics firms along the I-40 corridor have also sponsored STEM OPT candidates for supply chain and operations engineering roles.
Which cities in Tennessee have the most transportation F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs?
Memphis leads Tennessee for transportation STEM OPT opportunities, given its position as one of the largest freight and air cargo hubs in the country, anchored by FedEx's global headquarters and a dense cluster of logistics firms. Nashville follows closely, driven by growth in e-commerce fulfillment and supply chain technology. Smyrna and Murfreesboro, near major automotive manufacturing plants, also generate demand for transportation engineering and operations analysis roles that commonly qualify for STEM OPT.
How do I find transportation F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs in Tennessee?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship type, so you can search for transportation roles in Tennessee that are open to F-1 STEM OPT candidates without manually screening out positions that don't sponsor. Focus your search on roles with STEM CIP code-eligible job titles such as logistics engineer, supply chain analyst, or transportation data analyst, as these align with the STEM OPT extension requirements. Filtering by Tennessee cities like Memphis and Nashville will surface the highest concentrations of relevant openings.
What types of transportation roles typically qualify for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship?
Roles that qualify for STEM OPT in the transportation industry are those tied to a STEM-designated CIP code on the DHS STEM Designated Degree Program List. In practice, this includes positions such as logistics engineer, supply chain data analyst, transportation systems analyst, operations research analyst, and industrial engineer focused on freight or distribution networks. General roles like driver manager or dispatcher typically do not qualify, as they don't require a STEM degree as a formal job requirement under USCIS guidelines.
Are there any Tennessee-specific considerations for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship in transportation?
Tennessee's transportation sector is shaped by its position as a major inland freight hub, which means employers here often have experience working with international STEM talent, particularly in logistics technology and supply chain engineering. Employers sponsoring STEM OPT must be enrolled in E-Verify, a federal requirement enforced regardless of state. Tennessee has no state-level immigration filing requirements that add to the federal STEM OPT process, but candidates should confirm their prospective employer's E-Verify enrollment status before accepting an offer, as non-enrolled employers cannot legally support a STEM OPT extension.
