Which medical devices companies sponsor visas in Tennessee?
Major medical device employers in Tennessee that sponsor visas include Medtronic (with operations in Memphis), Smith & Nephew (Memphis headquarters), Wright Medical Group, Zimmer Biomet, and Boston Scientific. Many of these companies have manufacturing facilities and R&D centers in the Memphis and Nashville areas, regularly sponsoring H-1B and other work visas for engineering, quality assurance, regulatory affairs, and clinical research positions.
How to find medical devices visa sponsorship jobs in Tennessee?
Use Migrate Mate to search specifically for medical devices positions in Tennessee that offer visa sponsorship. The platform filters jobs by industry and state, showing which Tennessee medical device companies are actively hiring international candidates. Focus your search on Nashville and Memphis, where most medical device companies are located, and target roles in engineering, regulatory compliance, and clinical research.
Which visa types are most common for medical devices roles in Tennessee?
H-1B visas are most common for medical devices roles in Tennessee, particularly for biomedical engineers, regulatory affairs specialists, and clinical research associates. O-1 visas are sometimes used for senior R&D scientists and engineers with specialized expertise in medical device innovation. L-1 visas are common for international transfers within multinational medical device companies like Medtronic and Smith & Nephew.
Which cities in Tennessee have the most medical devices sponsorship jobs?
Memphis leads Tennessee in medical devices visa sponsorship opportunities, hosting headquarters and major facilities for Smith & Nephew, Wright Medical, and Medtronic operations. Nashville follows with its growing healthcare innovation district and medical device startups. Smaller concentrations exist in Knoxville near the University of Tennessee research facilities, but Memphis and Nashville account for approximately 80% of the state's medical device sponsorship positions.
What are the prevailing wage requirements for medical devices jobs in Tennessee?
Tennessee's prevailing wages for medical devices positions vary significantly between Memphis and Nashville metro areas, with Nashville typically 10-15% higher due to cost of living differences. Biomedical engineers and regulatory affairs specialists generally meet H-1B wage requirements more easily than entry-level quality technician roles. The state's lower overall cost of living compared to traditional medical device hubs like California makes Tennessee attractive for international professionals.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored medical devices jobs in Tennessee?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
