Which legal companies sponsor visas in Tennessee?
Major law firms like Bass, Berry & Sims, Baker Donelson, and Adams and Reese regularly sponsor visas in Tennessee. Corporate legal departments at FedEx (Memphis), Nissan (Franklin), and HCA Healthcare (Nashville) also sponsor international attorneys. Nashville-based firms focusing on healthcare law and Memphis firms specializing in logistics law show particularly strong sponsorship activity.
How to find legal visa sponsorship jobs in Tennessee?
Use Migrate Mate to search specifically for legal positions in Tennessee that offer visa sponsorship. The platform filters jobs by location and visa sponsorship availability, making it easy to find opportunities at Nashville and Memphis law firms. Focus on corporate law, immigration law, and healthcare law roles, which show the highest sponsorship rates in Tennessee's legal market.
Which visa types are most common for legal roles in Tennessee?
H-1B visas are most common for attorney positions at Tennessee law firms, particularly for corporate counsel and specialized practice areas like immigration or healthcare law. O-1 visas are used for distinguished attorneys with exceptional ability. TN visas work for Canadian and Mexican lawyers in specific NAFTA-qualifying legal roles, though options are more limited than H-1B.
Which cities in Tennessee have the most legal sponsorship jobs?
Nashville leads Tennessee in legal visa sponsorship opportunities, with major firms and corporate headquarters concentrated downtown. Memphis follows with logistics and transportation law firms, plus FedEx's large legal department. Knoxville offers fewer but growing opportunities, particularly in energy law and university-affiliated positions. Franklin and Brentwood also host corporate legal departments.
What prevailing wage considerations apply to legal jobs in Tennessee?
Tennessee's lower cost of living results in prevailing wages for attorneys that are generally 15-25% below coastal markets, but still competitive regionally. Nashville legal positions typically command higher prevailing wages than other Tennessee cities. Corporate counsel positions often have higher prevailing wage determinations than law firm associate roles, affecting H-1B petition viability.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored legal jobs in Tennessee?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
