This role will elevate procurement as an intentional, strategic enabler—driving value creation today while unlocking future growth through disciplined spend oversight and high impact savings initiatives.
You will architect and execute a multiyear sourcing and supplier strategy, lead a companywide spend cube analysis to enhance visibility and prioritization, and consistently deliver annual savings across cost, cash, and risk. Success will require deep partnership with Finance, Marketing, Sales, HR, IT, Operations, and Legal to influence spend behaviors, strengthen decision making, and generate measurable, enterprise wide impact.
Reporting to: SVP, Global Supply Chain & Operations
Location: Johnson City, TN onsite
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategy & Value Creation
- Define and implement the enterprise sourcing strategy across indirect categories, especially Marketing and Sales—to optimize total cost of ownership (TCO), quality, service, risk, and speed.
- Build, evaluate and lead a company-wide spend cube to drive insight-driven prioritization (consolidation, standardization, maverick-spend remediation, and supplier performance improvements).
-
Set and deliver annual savings, working-capital, and cost-avoidance targets; track and report benefits with Finance using auditable methodologies.
-
Category Leadership (Indirect)
- Own category strategies and sourcing pipelines for Marketing (agencies, media, digital, events), Sales enablement, Professional Services, IT & Software, Travel, Facilities/MRO, HR, and Corporate Services.
-
Run competitive events (RFI/RFP/RFQ), negotiate complex MSAs/SOWs, and manage renewals, optimizing commercials (rates, SLAs, KPIs, credits) and contractual risk.
-
Process Excellence
-
Institutionalize best practices in both direct and indirect procurement (category management discipline, demand management, payment-term optimization, tail-spend control).
-
Stakeholder Partnership & Change Leadership
- Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leadership; influence demand and specifications to unlock value without sacrificing outcomes (e.g., media mix, SOW design, license right-sizing).
- Lead a high-performing team; attract and develop talent, set goals, and foster an outcome-oriented culture.
Basic Qualifications:
- 10+ years in procurement/strategic sourcing with 5+ years leading indirect categories; proven impact on Marketing and Sales spend.
- Demonstrated success delivering multiyear savings and EBITDA impact through category strategies, supplier governance, and rigorous benefits tracking.
- Advanced proficiency with spend analytics and building/using a spend cube (suppliers × categories × business units) to guide strategy.
- Expert negotiator with strong contract/CLM literacy (MSAs/SOWs, SLAs, benchmarking, rate cards, IP/indemnities, data security, termination/exit).
- Collaborative leader skilled at executive stakeholder engagement across Finance, Marketing, Sales, IT, Legal, and Operations.

Search Strategy Director Jobs in TennesseeStrategy Director Jobs in Tennessee: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies in Tennessee sponsor visas for strategy directors?
Nashville-headquartered healthcare giants HCA Healthcare and Community Health Systems are among the most consistent sponsors for senior strategy roles in Tennessee. Asurion, Bridgestone Americas, and Dollar General also have track records of sponsoring senior corporate strategy positions. At the university level, Vanderbilt University and the University of Tennessee system occasionally sponsor strategy-focused leadership roles through academic or administrative pathways.
Which visa types are most common for strategy director roles in Tennessee?
The H-1B is the most common visa for strategy directors in Tennessee, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree or higher in business, management, or a related field, satisfying the specialty occupation standard. Candidates with extraordinary recognition in corporate strategy may also qualify for the O-1A. Australian citizens have access to the E-3, which functions similarly to the H-1B but bypasses the annual lottery.
Which cities in Tennessee have the most strategy director sponsorship jobs?
Nashville accounts for the large majority of strategy director sponsorship activity in Tennessee, driven by its concentration of healthcare, insurance, and technology employers. Brentwood and Franklin, as Nashville suburban hubs, also host major corporate headquarters with senior strategy functions. Memphis contributes a smaller share, primarily through logistics, supply chain, and distribution companies with enterprise strategy teams.
How to find strategy director visa sponsorship jobs in Tennessee?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to identify strategy director openings in Tennessee without manually screening hundreds of postings. Because senior strategy roles are rarely advertised with explicit sponsorship language, Migrate Mate's employer-level sponsorship data is particularly useful for narrowing the field to companies with a demonstrated history of sponsoring this type of role in the state.
Are there any Tennessee-specific considerations for strategy director visa sponsorship?
Tennessee has no state income tax on wages, which affects prevailing wage benchmarking since compensation structures in Nashville can differ from coastal markets. Employers filing Labor Condition Applications for H-1B strategy directors must still meet the Department of Labor's prevailing wage for the Nashville or Memphis metropolitan statistical area, as applicable. Tennessee's growing healthcare corridor also means many strategy director roles sit at the intersection of clinical operations and corporate planning, which can shape how specialty occupation eligibility is evaluated.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored strategy director jobs in Tennessee?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
