Which agriculture companies sponsor E-3 visas in Texas?
Large agribusiness operations and food production companies in Texas are among the most active E-3 sponsors in the agriculture sector. Companies like Cargill, Tyson Foods, and JBS USA have processing and production facilities across the state. University-affiliated research institutions and agricultural cooperatives in the Panhandle and South Texas also sponsor E-3 workers for specialty occupation roles in agronomy, soil science, and food technology.
Which cities in Texas have the most agriculture E-3 sponsorship jobs?
Lubbock is a strong hub given its proximity to West Texas cotton production and Texas Tech University's agricultural programs. The Rio Grande Valley, particularly the McAllen and Harlingen areas, sees demand for crop science and irrigation specialists tied to vegetable and citrus production. Amarillo and the surrounding Panhandle region also concentrate roles connected to cattle feedlots, grain processing, and agricultural engineering.
What types of agriculture roles typically qualify for E-3 sponsorship?
E-3 sponsorship requires the role to qualify as a specialty occupation, meaning it must normally require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. In agriculture, qualifying roles typically include agronomists, agricultural engineers, food scientists, animal scientists, and precision agriculture specialists. General farm labor, equipment operation, and roles where no specific degree is required do not meet the specialty occupation standard for E-3 purposes.
How do I find agriculture E-3 sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers on work visas, including Australians targeting E-3 sponsorship. You can filter by visa type, state, and industry to surface agriculture roles in Texas where employers have an active or demonstrated history of E-3 sponsorship. This saves significant time compared to manually screening roles that were never intended for visa-sponsored candidates.
Are there any Texas-specific considerations for agriculture E-3 sponsorship?
Texas agriculture spans highly distinct regions, and the specialty occupation roles available differ by region. Employers in research-intensive areas near universities, such as College Station home to Texas A&M AgriLife, are more familiar with visa sponsorship processes than smaller rural operations. Seasonal production cycles can also affect hiring timelines, so targeting employers with year-round processing or research functions tends to result in more stable E-3 sponsorship opportunities.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 agriculture jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
