Which agriculture companies sponsor H-2A visas in Texas?
Some of the most active H-2A visa sponsors in Texas include vegetable and melon growers in the Rio Grande Valley, onion producers near Presidio, nursery operations in East Texas, and large feedlots and ranches in the Panhandle. Companies like Luken Farms and various onion co-ops in West Texas appear regularly in Department of Labor H-2A disclosure data. Sponsorship activity follows seasonal demand, so employer filings shift throughout the year.
Which cities in Texas have the most agriculture H-2A sponsorship jobs?
The Rio Grande Valley, including the areas around Edinburg, Mission, and Weslaco, consistently sees high H-2A petition volume for vegetable and citrus harvesting. Presidio and the Trans-Pecos region are active for onion production. Amarillo and Lubbock anchor livestock and grain operations in the Panhandle. Smaller towns like Pearsall and Uvalde also see concentrated filings tied to specific crop seasons.
What types of agriculture roles typically qualify for H-2A sponsorship?
H-2A covers temporary agricultural labor that is seasonal or peak-load in nature. In Texas, qualifying roles include crop harvesters, irrigators, field laborers, equipment operators, livestock handlers, and nursery workers. The work must be tied to a defined season with a clear start and end date. Office roles, food processing positions, or year-round supervisory jobs generally do not qualify under the H-2A program.
How do I find agriculture H-2A sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate lists verified agriculture H-2A sponsorship jobs in Texas, letting you filter by visa type and industry so you only see roles where sponsorship is confirmed. This is more efficient than sorting through general job boards where H-2A status is rarely disclosed upfront. Texas agriculture hiring is highly seasonal, so checking Migrate Mate regularly during planting and harvest windows, typically spring and late summer, gives you the best chance of finding active openings.
Are there any Texas-specific considerations for H-2A agriculture sponsorship?
Texas's size means H-2A job conditions vary significantly by region. The Rio Grande Valley has an established infrastructure for seasonal workers, including housing provided by growers as required under H-2A rules. West Texas operations, particularly in remote counties, may involve more isolated worksites. Texas also borders Mexico, so some employers use consular processing through Ciudad Juarez or Monterrey, which can affect interview scheduling and timeline planning.
