Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Shop Technician for our Salt Lake City dealership location to deliver high-quality component repairs, testing, and failure analysis on construction machinery. You will troubleshoot equipment issues, generate accurate repair quotes, and complete assigned tasks efficiently within flat-rate times. Working safely and cleanly according to regulatory guidelines, you will also manage work orders, parts requests, and diagnostic records through digital service databases.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Complete assigned jobs and task to meet flat rate times and re-do metric.
• Work safely and follow all KEC/Customer safety policies and procedures.
• Complete related paperwork and access databases require to complete job (work order, parts order, JSA, DBS, SIMS, SIS web, STW) accurately and timely.
• Follow contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations.
• Remove and install parts, disassemble and assemble components, and test and adjust assemblies with minimal supervision.
• Ability to provide accurate quotes and pricing estimates to the customer.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot problems, give recommendations for repairs.
• Test and verify correct operation of all repairs and adjustments.
• Apply general failure analysis and procedures to determine proper diagnosis.

Qualifications/Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
• Associate Degree in Diesel Technology or equivalent preferred
• Minimum of 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
• Knowledge of database software, Internet software, manufacturing software and order processing systems
• Uses intuition and experience to complement data
• Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner
• Responds promptly to customer needs
• Prioritizes and plans work activities
• Reacts well under pressure; accepts responsibility for own actions; follows through on commitments
• Meets productivity standards; completes work in a timely manner
• Observes safety procedures; reports potentially unsafe conditions
