Which science and research companies sponsor Green Card visas in Utah?
Prominent sponsors in Utah's science and research sector include the University of Utah Health Sciences, Recursion Pharmaceuticals, Myriad Genetics, and defense contractors such as Northrop Grumman and L3Harris, which operate research facilities along the Wasatch Front. Federal laboratories like the Naval Surface Warfare Center also employ international researchers and have supported permanent residence petitions for qualifying scientific roles.
Which cities in Utah have the most science and research Green Card sponsorship jobs?
Salt Lake City concentrates the largest share of science and research Green Card sponsorship activity, anchored by the University of Utah, ARUP Laboratories, and a growing life sciences cluster. Provo and the surrounding Utah County corridor add significant volume through companies in genomics, materials science, and technology research. Ogden hosts defense and aerospace research employers that have sponsored permanent residence for engineering and scientific personnel.
How do I find science & research Green Card sponsorship jobs in Utah?
Migrate Mate lets you filter science and research positions in Utah specifically by Green Card sponsorship history, so you can identify employers who have filed PERM labor certification applications for comparable roles. This is more reliable than inferring sponsorship willingness from a job posting alone. Searching through Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsoring employers in Utah's life sciences, genomics, materials science, and defense research sectors.
What types of science and research roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship in Utah?
Roles that commonly qualify include research scientists, biostatisticians, computational biologists, materials scientists, clinical research specialists, and laboratory directors. Positions requiring a master's degree or doctorate in a directly related scientific discipline are frequently sponsored through the EB-2 category. Research roles at universities and nonprofit institutions may also qualify for the EB-2 National Interest Waiver if the work has broader scientific or public benefit. USCIS evaluates each petition individually based on the specific duties and degree requirements.
Are there state-specific considerations for Green Card sponsorship in Utah's science and research sector?
Utah's prevailing wage determinations for scientific occupations are set by the DOL using OFLC Wage Search data specific to the Salt Lake City and Provo metropolitan areas, which can differ meaningfully from national averages. Employers must demonstrate that sponsoring a foreign national will not adversely affect similarly employed U.S. workers. University and nonprofit research institutions in Utah may have access to cap-exempt H-1B visa status in parallel, which can affect the timing and sequencing of permanent residence filings.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card science & research jobs in Utah?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
