Which mining and natural resources companies sponsor Green Cards in Texas?
Large integrated energy and mining companies with Texas operations are the most consistent Green Card sponsors in this sector. ExxonMobil, Chevron, ConocoPhillips, and Shell maintain Houston headquarters or major regional offices and have filed PERM labor certifications for technical and engineering roles. Freeport-McMoRan sponsors for mining operations, while midstream and chemical companies such as LyondellBasell and Dow also sponsor positions requiring specialized geological or engineering credentials.
Which Texas cities have the most mining and natural resources Green Card sponsorship jobs?
Houston is the dominant hub, hosting corporate headquarters for most major oil, gas, and petrochemical companies that sponsor permanent residency. Midland and Odessa serve as operational centers for Permian Basin drilling and production roles, where reservoir engineers and drilling specialists are regularly sponsored. Corpus Christi concentrates refining and LNG export positions, while El Paso and nearby areas see sponsorship activity tied to Trans-Pecos mining and cross-border resource operations.
How do I find mining & natural resources Green Card sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate surfaces verified Green Card sponsorship jobs in Texas mining and natural resources by filtering employer PERM and labor certification filing history, so you only see roles where sponsorship has genuinely occurred. You can filter by occupation, region, and employer size to focus on companies active in the Permian Basin, Gulf Coast refining, or mineral extraction. This saves time compared to manually reviewing DOL disclosure data and job postings separately.
What types of mining and natural resources roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship in Texas?
Roles that typically qualify require specialized degrees and are difficult to fill domestically. Petroleum engineers, reservoir engineers, geoscientists, geologists, mining engineers, environmental engineers, and drilling specialists are among the most commonly sponsored occupations. Positions at the supervisory or senior technical level, particularly those requiring a master's degree or doctorate in earth sciences or engineering, generate the strongest sponsorship activity because employers can more readily demonstrate that no qualified U.S. worker was available.
Are there state-specific considerations for Green Card sponsorship in Texas mining and natural resources?
Texas has no state income tax, which affects total compensation framing in PERM prevailing wage calculations but does not change federal sponsorship requirements. The concentration of energy employers in Texas means PERM filings in petroleum engineering and geoscience occupations are relatively common here compared to other states. Employers in the Permian Basin sometimes use EB-2 or EB-3 categories depending on the degree requirements of the specific role, and project-based or contractor arrangements can complicate long-term sponsorship eligibility.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card mining & natural resources jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
