Which agriculture companies sponsor H-2A visas in Virginia?
Virginia's H-2A sponsors are concentrated in fruit, vegetable, and nursery operations. Recurring filers include apple orchards in the Shenandoah Valley such as Bowman Apple Products and Showalter's Orchard, Eastern Shore vegetable and sweet potato farms, and nursery operations in the Piedmont region. Large berry and melon growers in the Tidewater area also file H-2A petitions regularly each season.
Which cities in Virginia have the most agriculture H-2A sponsorship jobs?
The highest concentration of H-2A agriculture jobs in Virginia is found around Winchester and Shenandoah County, which anchor the state's apple and orchard belt. Accomack and Northampton counties on the Eastern Shore are major hubs for vegetable and potato farming. Loudoun and Fauquier counties in Northern Virginia also have significant nursery and equine-related agricultural operations that file H-2A petitions.
What types of agriculture roles typically qualify for H-2A sponsorship?
H-2A covers temporary or seasonal agricultural work tied to a specific growing or harvest cycle. In Virginia, qualifying roles include fruit and vegetable harvesters, nursery and greenhouse workers, irrigation equipment operators, crop graders and packers, and farm equipment operators supporting seasonal planting or harvest. The work must be seasonal in nature, meaning demand is tied to a defined time of year rather than year-round operational need.
How do I find agriculture H-2A sponsorship jobs in Virginia?
Migrate Mate lists H-2A agriculture jobs in Virginia with sponsorship confirmed, so you can filter specifically for seasonal farm roles in counties like Accomack, Shenandoah, or Winchester without sorting through positions that don't offer visa support. Search by visa type and state to surface current openings from Virginia employers who have filed H-2A petitions, which is a reliable signal of active sponsorship intent.
Are there state-specific considerations for H-2A agriculture workers in Virginia?
Virginia participates in the federal H-2A program without a separate state certification layer, but employers must comply with Virginia Department of Labor and Industry housing and transportation standards for workers. The state's climate means most H-2A contracts run from March through November, with apple harvest peaking in August through October. Workers housed on-farm in the Shenandoah Valley should be aware that employer-provided housing is federally required and must meet OSHA standards.
