Which companies sponsor visas for insurance collectors in Virginia?
Large insurers and third-party administrators operating in Virginia are the most active sponsors for insurance collector roles. Companies such as Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Humana, and Optum have Virginia operations and documented H-1B sponsorship histories. Federal contractors in Northern Virginia that manage government health or liability programs also hire for collections-adjacent roles and have sponsored foreign national employees in insurance operations.
Which visa types are most common for insurance collector roles in Virginia?
The H-1B is the most common visa for insurance collector roles when the position qualifies as a specialty occupation, typically requiring a bachelor's degree in finance, business, or a related field. The TN visa is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying business or accounting classifications. The O-1 applies only in exceptional circumstances. Some roles may also be filled through OPT or STEM OPT extensions for recent graduates.
Which cities in Virginia have the most insurance collector sponsorship jobs?
Northern Virginia, particularly Tysons, Arlington, and Reston, concentrates the most insurance employer activity due to proximity to federal agencies and large commercial insurers. Richmond is Virginia's second-largest insurance hub, home to regional carrier offices and healthcare payers. Virginia Beach and Hampton Roads also have insurance operations presence, particularly tied to military and government health benefit programs serving the large defense community in that region.
How to find insurance collector visa sponsorship jobs in Virginia?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters insurance collector roles in Virginia by visa sponsorship eligibility, saving significant research time. On Migrate Mate, you can browse active insurance collector listings tied to Virginia employers that have a documented history of sponsoring foreign workers, rather than applying broadly and discovering a company's sponsorship limitations late in the process.
Are there state-specific considerations for insurance collector roles in Virginia?
Virginia employers sponsoring H-1B workers for insurance collector roles must file a Labor Condition Application certifying they will pay at least the prevailing wage for the occupation and geographic area as determined by the Department of Labor. Northern Virginia's prevailing wages are generally higher than those in other parts of the state due to cost-of-living differences. Virginia also has a significant concentration of insurance roles tied to federal health programs, which can affect the types of employer sponsoring.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored insurance collector jobs in Virginia?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
