Search Administrative Assistant Jobs in WashingtonAdministrative Assistant Jobs in Washington: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies in Washington sponsor visas for administrative assistants?
Large employers in Washington with established visa sponsorship programs include Amazon, Microsoft, Boeing, and major healthcare systems like Providence and UW Medicine. These organizations have dedicated HR and immigration infrastructure to support sponsored hires. State agencies and research universities, particularly the University of Washington, also sponsor administrative staff, though sponsorship decisions depend on the specific role and candidate qualifications.
Which visa types are most common for administrative assistant roles in Washington?
The H-1B is the most frequently used visa for administrative assistants in Washington, but it requires the role to qualify as a specialty occupation, meaning the position must typically require a specific bachelor's degree. Some roles qualify under the TN visa for Canadian and Mexican nationals. The O-1 is rarely applicable for administrative positions. Eligibility depends heavily on how the employer defines and documents the role.
Which cities in Washington have the most administrative assistant sponsorship jobs?
Seattle and its surrounding metro, including Bellevue, Redmond, and Kirkland, account for the large majority of administrative assistant sponsorship opportunities in Washington. This reflects the concentration of tech companies and corporate headquarters in the region. Tacoma and Olympia see some demand through healthcare and state government hiring. Spokane has a smaller but present market tied to healthcare and higher education.
How to find administrative assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Washington?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search, filtering administrative assistant roles in Washington by visa sponsorship eligibility. Because not all employers advertise sponsorship availability upfront, using a platform like Migrate Mate that screens for sponsoring employers saves significant time. Focus your search on the Seattle metro, where the highest concentration of sponsoring organizations for administrative roles is found.
Are there state-specific considerations for administrative assistants seeking visa sponsorship in Washington?
Washington has no state income tax, which affects how prevailing wage calculations compare to other states. Employers filing an H-1B Labor Condition Application must pay the prevailing wage for the specific administrative role and county, as determined by Department of Labor data. The University of Washington and Washington State University are cap-exempt H-1B employers, meaning they can file H-1B petitions year-round outside the annual lottery.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored administrative assistant jobs in Washington?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
