Research assistants participate in the design, execution, analysis and evaluation of health-related projects conducted by University Healthcare Physicians, WVU Health Sciences Center-Eastern Division faculty, resident physicians and medical students.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
- Bachelor’s Degree; OR
- High School diploma AND four years related experience.
Experience:
- One (1) year of human subject research experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
- Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI program) certification.
Experience:
- Interest in professional development toward future graduate school or employment in healthcare related research.
- Writing Institutional Review Board submissions, protocol development, data collection and basic descriptive analysis.

- Assists with academic research, health related program development and community engagement.
- Assists with the editing and preparation of manuscripts.
- Meets regularly with supervisor to discuss research and problematic assignments.
- Contributes to the development of project related web materials, educational materials, and social media content.
- Attends program related community meetings and performs outreach.
- Gathers and analyzes data.
- Prepares materials for submission to agencies and foundations that fund research.
- Prepares materials for IRB (Institutional Review Board) review.
- Manages and replies to project-related correspondence.
- Attends project meetings.
- Assists with program related care innovations and quality improvement initiatives including education.
- Prepares other articles, reports, and presentations.
- Performs routine clerical duties as instructed, if essential to the research activities of the project to which the research assistant is assigned.
- Assists with coordination and execution of academic conferences as specified.
- Performs other project related duties as assigned by supervising faculty.
