- Foundational understanding of global trade concepts such as incoterms, HS classification, customs valuation, origin/FTAs, and sanctions screening.
- Ability to quickly learn new systems, regulations, and internal processes.

Which companies sponsor visas for compliance specialists in Wisconsin?
Milwaukee-based financial firms are among the most active sponsors, including Northwestern Mutual, Fiserv, and Associated Bank, which regularly hire compliance specialists in regulatory, financial crimes, and risk functions. In Madison, Epic Systems and UW Health have sponsored compliance roles tied to healthcare data and privacy. Manufacturing companies in the Green Bay and Appleton areas also sponsor, particularly for environmental and quality compliance positions.
Which visa types are most common for compliance specialist roles in Wisconsin?
The H-1B is the most common visa for compliance specialists in Wisconsin, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as finance, law, accounting, or business, meeting the specialty occupation standard. Some candidates with advanced credentials pursue the O-1A. Compliance specialists from Canada or Mexico may qualify for TN status under the USMCA, provided their degree and job duties align with the designated professional categories.
Which cities in Wisconsin have the most compliance specialist sponsorship jobs?
Milwaukee accounts for the largest share of compliance specialist sponsorship activity in Wisconsin, driven by its concentration of financial institutions, insurance companies, and regional bank headquarters. Madison is the second-strongest market, with demand coming from healthcare systems, university-affiliated organizations, and state government contractors. Green Bay and the Fox Valley corridor offer compliance opportunities in manufacturing, food processing, and supply chain operations.
How to find compliance specialist visa sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates and filters compliance specialist roles in Wisconsin by visa sponsorship availability, so you're not sorting through listings that won't lead anywhere. The platform surfaces employers who have an active history of sponsoring work visas for compliance functions, which is particularly useful in Wisconsin's financial services and healthcare sectors where sponsorship willingness varies significantly by employer.
Are there state-specific factors that affect compliance specialist sponsorship in Wisconsin?
Wisconsin's compliance hiring is heavily shaped by its financial services and healthcare industries, both of which are subject to federal regulatory frameworks that drive consistent demand for qualified specialists. Employers must pay the Department of Labor prevailing wage for the relevant metropolitan area when sponsoring an H-1B, and wages differ between Milwaukee, Madison, and smaller markets. The University of Wisconsin system also produces a pipeline of compliance-adjacent graduates that influences local hiring norms and employer sponsorship familiarity.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored compliance specialist jobs in Wisconsin?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
