Which construction companies sponsor TN visas in Wisconsin?
Large general contractors and construction management firms operating in Wisconsin are the most common TN sponsors. Companies like Mortenson Construction, J.H. Findorff & Son, and national firms with Wisconsin offices such as Turner Construction and Gilbane Building Company have histories of hiring international professionals in engineering and management roles. Sponsorship is more common at firms with ongoing large-scale commercial, infrastructure, or institutional projects.
Which cities in Wisconsin have the most construction TN sponsorship jobs?
Milwaukee and Madison account for the majority of construction TN sponsorship activity in Wisconsin. Milwaukee drives demand through large commercial and infrastructure projects, while Madison's growth in university, government, and tech-adjacent development creates consistent openings. Green Bay and Waukesha also see activity tied to industrial construction and regional development projects, particularly for civil and structural engineering roles.
What types of construction roles typically qualify for TN sponsorship?
TN visas cover specific professional categories, so qualifying construction roles are generally those requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field. Civil engineers, structural engineers, geotechnical engineers, architects, and construction project managers with engineering degrees are common fits. Roles that are primarily trades-based or supervisory without a degree requirement do not qualify under TN visa guidelines.
How do I find construction TN sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate lists construction jobs in Wisconsin that are open to TN visa sponsorship, letting you filter by visa type and industry so you're only seeing relevant opportunities. Because TN eligibility depends on both the role and your specific professional background, focus on postings from general contractors and engineering firms with active Wisconsin projects. Migrate Mate makes it straightforward to identify which employers are actively hiring for TN-eligible positions.
Are there any Wisconsin-specific considerations for TN sponsorship in construction?
Wisconsin does not impose state-level visa sponsorship requirements beyond federal TN rules, but the state's construction licensing framework matters. Some roles may require Wisconsin Professional Engineer licensure, which involves the state's PE exam and continuing education requirements separate from your TN status. Employers in public infrastructure projects may also require compliance with Wisconsin's prevailing wage standards, which can affect how your offer letter is structured for TN documentation purposes.
