Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Visa Sponsorship as an Anesthesiologist Assistant
Target academic medical centers and large hospital systems
Teaching hospitals and major healthcare networks have established visa sponsorship processes and legal teams familiar with healthcare immigration requirements for specialized roles.
Highlight your accredited master's program completion
CAAHEP-accredited anesthesiologist assistant programs directly satisfy H-1B specialty occupation requirements. Emphasize your program's accreditation status in applications and interviews with employers.
Emphasize NCCAA certification eligibility or completion
National certification demonstrates specialized knowledge that supports visa petitions. Mention your certification timeline and any additional state-specific licensing requirements you'll complete.
Research state licensing requirements early
Some states don't recognize anesthesiologist assistants or have specific licensing pathways. Focus on positions in states where the role is fully established.
Network through professional associations and clinical rotations
Connect with practicing AAs through the American Academy of Anesthesiologist Assistants. Clinical rotations often lead to job offers from sponsoring employers.
Consider positions at federal facilities
VA hospitals and military medical centers often have streamlined processes for hiring international healthcare professionals and may offer alternative visa pathways.

Find Anesthesiologist Assistant JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Do anesthesiologist assistants qualify for H-1B visas?
Yes, anesthesiologist assistants qualify for H-1B sponsorship as the role requires a master's degree from a CAAHEP-accredited program. The specialized education requirement and professional certification clearly meet specialty occupation criteria, resulting in strong approval rates for qualified candidates.
What degree requirements apply for visa sponsorship?
You need a master's degree from a CAAHEP-accredited anesthesiologist assistant program. Foreign bachelor's degrees plus the specialized master's program satisfy H-1B requirements. Some employers may also consider equivalent international anesthesia assistant credentials with credential evaluation.
Which healthcare employers typically sponsor anesthesiologist assistants?
Large hospital systems, academic medical centers, and multi-specialty surgical groups most commonly sponsor AAs. These facilities have established legal processes for healthcare immigration and understand the specialized nature of the role, making them ideal targets for visa sponsorship.
How does state licensing affect visa applications?
Not all states license anesthesiologist assistants, which can complicate visa petitions. Focus on positions in states with established AA licensing pathways. Employers in these states are more familiar with the role and more likely to successfully navigate the sponsorship process.
How to find Anesthesiologist Assistant jobs with visa sponsorship?
To find Anesthesiologist Assistant jobs with visa sponsorship, use Migrate Mate, which specializes in connecting international healthcare professionals with U.S. employers. Focus on large hospital systems, academic medical centers, and surgical facilities that commonly sponsor H-1B or O-1 visas for specialized medical roles. These employers often have established sponsorship programs for qualified anesthesiologist assistants.
Can I work in other healthcare roles while waiting for AA positions?
Your H-1B petition must be specific to anesthesiologist assistant work. You cannot work in general healthcare roles on the same petition. However, you might qualify for other specialized positions if you have additional relevant degrees or certifications that meet H-1B requirements.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Anesthesiologist Assistant jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
