Frequently Asked Questions
What degree do I need for H-1B sponsorship as a Key Account Manager?
Most H-1B visa petitions for Key Account Manager roles require a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, or a related field. The degree requirement depends on job complexity, strategic enterprise account roles typically qualify more easily than basic sales support positions. Some employers accept equivalent experience using the 3-for-1 rule.
Do Key Account Manager positions qualify for TN visa status?
Key Account Manager roles can qualify under TN visa's Management Consultant category if you're advising clients on business strategy, process improvement, or organizational effectiveness. Pure sales-focused account management typically doesn't qualify. The role must involve consulting services rather than direct sales or relationship maintenance activities.
How do I prove specialty occupation requirements for account management?
Focus on analytical and strategic aspects: financial modeling for account planning, market analysis, contract negotiation complexity, or cross-functional project leadership. The job description should emphasize business strategy, data analysis, and specialized industry knowledge rather than general relationship maintenance or sales activities.
Which industries sponsor Key Account Managers most frequently?
Technology companies, pharmaceutical firms, financial services, and manufacturing companies sponsor most frequently. These industries have complex products requiring specialized knowledge and long-term strategic relationships. Enterprise software companies particularly value account managers who understand technical integrations and multi-year implementation projects.
Can I get sponsored if my current title is Account Executive?
Yes, if the actual job duties involve strategic account management rather than prospecting or closing new deals. Many Account Executive positions at enterprise companies function as Key Account Managers. The petition depends on job responsibilities, account expansion, retention strategy, and client advisory work, not the official title.
How to find Key Account Manager jobs with visa sponsorship?
To find Key Account Manager jobs with visa sponsorship, use Migrate Mate, which specializes in connecting international professionals with sponsoring employers. Focus your search on multinational corporations, tech companies, and manufacturing firms that frequently hire Key Account Managers on H-1B, L-1 visa, or other work visas. These industries often have established sponsorship programs and actively recruit talent for client relationship management roles.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Key Account Manager jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
