About
Ubiquiti is a technology company driven by innovation, simplicity, and performance. We build globally adopted platforms across networking, physical security, and beyond—challenging traditional enterprise models with a fundamentally different approach.
At Ubiquiti, pre-sales engineering is not a support function—it’s a strategic lever. You’ll work at the intersection of customers, partners, and product, helping define how modern IT infrastructure is designed, deployed, and scaled.
The Role
We’re looking for a Pre-Sales Engineer who thrives in ambiguity, thinks in systems, and enjoys turning complex, real-world problems into simple, scalable solutions. You’ll work across Ubiquiti’s expanding ecosystem—including routing, switching, security, SD-WAN, cameras, and access control—partnering with enterprise customers, MSPs, and internal teams to design architectures and influence product direction.
This is not a traditional, script-driven sales engineering role. You’ll be expected to operate with autonomy, challenge assumptions, and contribute to how UniFi evolves—not just how it’s sold.
- Own problem discovery and design scalable solutions across networking and physical security, even when requirements are unclear
- Create presentations, demos, and training content that translate complex systems into clear, compelling narratives
- Translate customer and partner needs into structured, actionable feedback that informs product direction
- Scale the Partner Program by onboarding new MSPs/SIs and growing existing partners through repeatable, high-quality deployments
- Support both inbound opportunities and proactive outbound engagement with high-potential customers and partners
- Build and maintain lab environments to test, validate, and refine real-world solutions
What We’re Looking For
- Embraces AI and LLMs to scale learning, problem-solving, and creative output efficiently
- Strong technical background required, with a solid foundation in networking concepts preferred
- Clear communicator who can translate complex technical concepts for both technical and executive audiences
- Strategic and systems-oriented thinker who can connect individual problems to broader patterns and solutions
- Comfortable operating in fast-paced, ambiguous environments while engaging with a high volume of customers and partners
What We’re Offering
- Latest Ubiquiti gear to build and maintain a home lab
- Fully paid, high-coverage medical, dental, and vision insurance
- Opportunity to directly influence products used by millions worldwide
- Flexible, hybrid work environment

How to Get Visa Sponsorship as a Pre Sales Engineer
Target companies with active H-1B filing histories
Enterprise software, cloud infrastructure, and cybersecurity companies file H-1B petitions for Pre-Sales Engineers regularly. Focus your search on mid-size and large vendors with established immigration programs rather than early-stage startups without legal infrastructure.
Frame your degree as directly relevant to the role
USCIS classifies Pre-Sales Engineer as a specialty occupation when the role requires a degree in engineering, computer science, or a technical field. Degrees in business or communications are harder to defend, so emphasize your technical qualifications throughout every application.
Prepare for a strong technical-plus-commercial narrative
Visa petitions for Pre-Sales Engineers must demonstrate the role requires specialized knowledge. Document proof-of-concept work, technical architectures you have designed, and complex client problems you have solved to support the specialty occupation classification.
Ask about sponsorship timing before your final interview round
Some employers sponsor from day one, others only after a probationary period. Confirming the company's process early saves time. Raise it as a practical logistics question, not a negotiating point, to keep the conversation straightforward.
Consider O-1A if you have a strong track record
Pre-Sales Engineers with published work, speaking engagements at industry conferences, awards, or documented high-value deal contributions may qualify for the O-1A extraordinary ability visa, which has no lottery and no annual cap to worry about.
Use Migrate Mate to surface sponsorship-confirmed openings
Filtering by visa sponsorship on Migrate Mate connects you directly with Pre-Sales Engineer roles where employers have confirmed they will support your application, cutting out the uncertainty of reaching out cold to companies who may not sponsor.

Is Pre-Sales Engineer a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
Generally yes, provided the role requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific technical field such as engineering, computer science, or information systems. USCIS looks at whether a degree in a directly related field is a standard industry requirement for the position. Roles with a more generalist description or where any degree is acceptable carry more risk of an RFE.
What degree do I need to qualify for H-1B sponsorship as a Pre-Sales Engineer?
A bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, or information technology is the strongest foundation. Degrees in business or marketing are harder to tie to the technical requirements USCIS expects. If your degree is in a adjacent field, pairing it with demonstrable technical experience strengthens the petition significantly. Some employers use a combination of education and experience to meet the threshold.
Do Pre-Sales Engineer roles qualify for cap-exempt H-1B sponsorship?
Only if the employer qualifies as cap-exempt, which generally means universities, nonprofit research organizations, or entities affiliated with them. Most Pre-Sales Engineer openings are at for-profit technology vendors, which means the standard H-1B annual cap and lottery apply. If you are currently employed at a cap-exempt institution, a concurrent cap-exempt petition may be available.
How can I find Pre-Sales Engineer jobs that offer visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lists Pre-Sales Engineer roles where employers have confirmed they support visa sponsorship, so you are not left guessing after multiple interview rounds. Filtering by your visa type narrows results to positions that match your authorization status and speeds up the job search considerably.
Can I transfer my H-1B to a new employer if I switch Pre-Sales Engineer roles?
Yes. H-1B portability allows you to start working for a new employer as soon as the transfer petition is filed, without waiting for approval, as long as your previous H-1B was approved and you have maintained valid status. The new employer must file a fresh H-1B petition supported by a new Labor Condition Application reflecting the new role and work location.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Pre Sales Engineer jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
