Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Visa Sponsorship as a Technical Solutions Consultant
Lead with your technical depth, not just your client-facing skills
Hiring managers sponsoring visas for this role want to see systems knowledge, not just communication ability. Highlight specific platforms, APIs, or enterprise software you've implemented. Technical credibility is what justifies the specialty occupation classification on your visa petition.
Target companies with established immigration programs
Enterprise software companies, cloud infrastructure providers, and large SaaS firms sponsor Technical Solutions Consultants regularly. These employers have in-house immigration counsel and streamlined LCA processes, which means faster sponsorship timelines and fewer complications during the H-1B or E-3 filing.
Understand how your degree field affects your petition
Your degree must align with the technical requirements of the role. Computer science, information systems, and engineering degrees are straightforward. Business degrees with a technology concentration may qualify but require stronger documentation showing the direct field-to-job connection in your I-129 petition.
Use Migrate Mate to filter for verified sponsoring employers
Not every job posting that mentions this title will include visa sponsorship. Migrate Mate surfaces roles from employers with confirmed sponsorship histories, saving you from applying to positions that will fall through at the offer stage when visa requirements surface.
Prepare to explain the specialty occupation case for your specific role
USCIS scrutinizes consulting titles more than pure engineering roles. Be ready to show that your position requires at minimum a bachelor's degree in a specific technical discipline, not a general business or liberal arts background. Job descriptions with vague requirements can trigger RFEs.
Australian nationals should seriously evaluate the E-3 path
If you hold Australian citizenship, the E-3 visa bypasses the H-1B lottery entirely. It requires the same specialty occupation and degree alignment, but approvals happen through consular processing in weeks rather than months. Many employers who hesitate on H-1B will readily sponsor an E-3.

Find Technical Solutions Consultant JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does a Technical Solutions Consultant role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
It can, but it's one of the titles USCIS examines carefully. The role qualifies when the job description requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific technical field, such as computer science, engineering, or information systems. Generic consulting roles where any degree suffices are more likely to receive a Request for Evidence. Roles tied to specific technical platforms, enterprise software, or systems integration are stronger candidates for approval.
What degree do I need to get sponsored as a Technical Solutions Consultant?
Most employers require a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a closely related technical discipline. Degrees in business information systems can qualify if the curriculum had a strong technical focus. A purely general business or communications degree is unlikely to support a specialty occupation finding unless paired with substantial relevant coursework. Your degree field and your job duties need a demonstrable connection for the petition to hold up.
How can I find Technical Solutions Consultant jobs that offer visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find roles where the employer has an established sponsorship track record. Many postings on general job boards omit sponsorship details entirely, and you only discover the problem after investing time in interviews. Filtering for verified sponsoring employers upfront saves significant time and reduces the risk of reaching the offer stage with a company that ultimately won't file a petition.
Are H-1B approval rates good for this type of role?
Approval rates for technical consulting roles are lower than for pure software engineering positions, primarily because of specialty occupation scrutiny rather than lottery odds. Well-documented petitions from employers with strong immigration programs and clearly written job descriptions perform significantly better. Roles at companies with detailed job requirements specifying technical systems, tools, or methodologies tend to have fewer RFEs and higher approval rates than broadly worded consulting titles.
Can I switch employers on an H-1B if I'm already working as a Technical Solutions Consultant?
Yes. H-1B portability allows you to start working for a new employer as soon as the new I-129 petition is filed, without waiting for approval, provided your prior H-1B was approved and you haven't fallen out of status. The new employer files their own petition with a new Labor Condition Application. The specialty occupation documentation starts fresh, so the new job description needs to support the specialty occupation finding independently.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Technical Solutions Consultant jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
