Position Introduction:
Be the Force Behind the Mission. At the University Outreach, we don't just teach - we transform. For nearly 70 years, OU Outreach has extended the power of one of the nation's leading research universities into communities, organizations, and lives across Oklahoma and beyond. From workforce development and PreK-12 education to community health, disability training, and applied research, our work is wide-reaching, mission-driven, and genuinely meaningful. We're looking for an exceptional Executive Assistant to serve as the right-hand of the Sr. Associate Vice President of University Outreach - a senior leader whose work touches every corner of this dynamic organization.
Why This Role Is Different:
This isn't a traditional administrative support position. As Executive Assistant to the Sr. AVP, you'll sit at the intersection of strategy, relationships, and operations. You'll be a trusted partner and ambassador - someone who keeps complex initiatives moving, anticipates needs before they arise, and makes every interaction with the Sr. AVP's office feel seamless and intentional. What You'll Do:
- Manage a complex executive calendar, travel logistics, meeting preparation, and follow-up with precision and professionalism.
- Serve as the primary communication bridge between the Sr. AVP and internal/external stakeholders, handling sensitive matters with discretion.
- Drive operational efficiency through independent process management, documentation, and workflow coordination.
- Conduct research and synthesize information to support executive decision-making, presentations, and policy materials.
- Lead and manage special projects, exercising sound judgment and independent problem-solving with minimal oversight.
Why OU Outreach? OU Outreach is a recognized leader in lifelong learning, dedicated to helping individuals, businesses, groups, and communities transform themselves through knowledge. When you join our team, you're not just supporting an executive; you're contributing to a mission that equips learners, strengthens communities, and bridges academia with real-world impact. Our culture is grounded in values that show up every day: respect and civility, knowledge sharing, continuous improvement, and deep commitment to cultural inclusion. You'll work alongside people who believe in what they do and invest in each other's success. And as part of the broader University of Oklahoma community, you'll have access to robust benefits, professional development opportunities, and the pride of working for one of Oklahoma's most storied institutions.

What We're Looking For: The ideal candidate for this role brings more than a strong resume; they bring the right mindset. We're looking for someone who takes initiative and doesn't wait to be told what needs to be done. Someone who is eager to grow, actively building their skillset and embracing new challenges as opportunities rather than obstacles. We value professionals who know their limits and aren't afraid to ask for help, because collaboration and self-awareness are strengths, not weaknesses. We are looking for a candidate who demonstrates strong proficiency in modern technology tools, including advanced use of Microsoft 365 applications and emerging AI platforms, to drive efficiency, data-driven decision-making, and continuous innovation. They are adaptable learners who leverage new technologies to streamline workflows, enhance collaboration, and deliver high-quality business results. Most importantly, we're looking for someone who genuinely cares about the mission of OU Outreach and the communities we serve. This work matters, and the people who thrive here feel that. We want someone who shows up with a high level of commitment to the role, to the team, and to the broader purpose behind everything we do. Ready to Make Your Mark? VP Engineering Jobs in Oklahoma: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a vp engineering in Oklahoma?
Most vp engineering roles in Oklahoma require a bachelor's degree in engineering or computer science, though many employers prefer a master's degree or MBA for candidates stepping into executive leadership. Oklahoma does not require a state-issued engineering license for software or technology vp engineering roles, but candidates pursuing roles in civil, structural, or systems engineering may benefit from a Professional Engineer license issued through the Oklahoma State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors.
Which companies hire vp engineerings in Oklahoma?
Oklahoma vp engineering roles are posted by JPMorganChase, University of Oklahoma, and Good Shepherd Hospice and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Oklahoma's concentration of energy majors, aerospace manufacturers, and defense contractors means many of these roles sit at the intersection of operational technology and enterprise software leadership.
Which Oklahoma cities have the most vp engineering jobs?
Tulsa, Oklahoma City, and Norman account for the largest share of vp engineering openings in Oklahoma. Oklahoma City drives volume through its corporate headquarters in energy and financial services, while Tulsa's aerospace and manufacturing base generates consistent demand, and smaller markets like Edmond and Norman benefit from proximity to major campuses and technology-adjacent employers.
Are there remote vp engineering jobs in Oklahoma?
Yes, and more than many senior leadership roles, because vp engineering work is primarily strategic, organizational, and communication-driven rather than hands-on. About 40% of vp engineering openings tied to Oklahoma are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how many Oklahoma technology employers have adopted flexible executive arrangements. The parts of the role most likely to stay remote are product strategy, team planning, and cross-functional alignment.
How can I get hired as a vp engineering in Oklahoma with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a director of engineering or senior engineering manager role first, then building toward vp level over two to three years. In Oklahoma, energy companies like Devon Energy and aerospace employers like NORDAM regularly develop internal engineering leaders from senior individual contributor and program management backgrounds. Earning a Professional Engineer license through the Oklahoma State Board of Licensure strengthens candidates pursuing infrastructure or systems-adjacent tracks, while an MBA or executive leadership credential helps those moving toward product-focused vp roles.
Where can I find and apply to vp engineering jobs in Oklahoma?
You can find and apply to vp engineering jobs in Oklahoma on Migrate Mate, which lists current Oklahoma openings across industries and metro areas. Search the listings to find roles that match your leadership background and experience level, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
