Account Project Manager Jobs in Hawaii: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a account project manager in Hawaii?
Most account project manager roles in Hawaii require a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, or a related discipline. There is no state-issued license for the role, but earning a Project Management Professional credential through the Project Management Institute strengthens candidacy considerably, especially with Hawaii's large defense and government contractors. Building experience in client services, account coordination, or project administration at a Hawaii-based firm is the most direct path to a full account project manager title.
How much do account project managers make in Hawaii?
Account project managers in Hawaii earn a median of about $78,000 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $53,930 for the lowest 10% to over $150,440 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire account project managers in Hawaii?
Employers hiring account project managers in Hawaii right now include State Farm, Reyes Beverage, and Booz Allen Hamilton, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hawaii's concentration of federal defense contractors, telecommunications firms, and hospitality technology providers makes it a consistent market for account project management talent.
Which Hawaii cities have the most account project manager jobs?
Honolulu, Waipahu, and Mililani Town have the most account project manager openings in Hawaii. Honolulu dominates the market because it is home to the state's largest concentration of defense contractors, financial services firms, and corporate headquarters, while Kapolei's growing business campus draws technology and professional services employers that also generate consistent demand.
Are there remote account project manager jobs in Hawaii?
Yes, and more than most fields. Account project management is largely a coordination and communication role, which makes it well suited to remote and hybrid arrangements. About 31% of account project manager openings tied to Hawaii are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the desk-based nature of the work. Client-facing delivery management and kick-off coordination tend to be the tasks most commonly performed remotely.
How can I get hired as a account project manager in Hawaii with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a project coordinator or account coordinator role at a Hawaii-based defense or IT services firm, where you support senior managers before stepping into an independent account project manager function. Employers such as Booz Allen Hamilton and Hawaiian Telcom periodically bring on associates through structured rotational or development programs. Earning a CAPM credential from the Project Management Institute and building a portfolio of coordinated client deliverables gives early-career candidates a concrete advantage over those without formal credentials.
