Accountant Jobs in Arkansas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become an accountant in Arkansas?
Most accounting positions in Arkansas require at least a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, and roles with CPA responsibilities require licensure through the Arkansas State Board of Public Accountancy. To earn a CPA license in Arkansas, candidates must complete the required semester hours in accounting and business, pass all four sections of the Uniform CPA Exam, and fulfill a supervised experience requirement before applying for licensure.
How much do accountants make in Arkansas?
Accountants in Arkansas earn a median of about $66,330 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $45,810 for the lowest 10% to over $119,520 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire accountants in Arkansas?
Employers hiring accountants in Arkansas right now include Walmart, W G Yates & Sons Construction, and Highlands Oncology, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Arkansas's strong retail, healthcare, and agricultural sectors mean large regional corporations and hospital systems consistently post accountant openings throughout the year.
Which Arkansas cities have the most accountant jobs?
Little Rock, Bentonville, and Rogers have the most accountant openings in Arkansas. Little Rock dominates as the state capital and headquarters of major healthcare and financial services employers, while Fayetteville benefits from the University of Arkansas and a dense cluster of corporate offices tied to Walmart's supplier ecosystem in nearby Bentonville.
Are there remote accountant jobs in Arkansas?
Yes, and more than most fields, since accounting work is largely analytical and document-based. About 21% of accountant openings tied to Arkansas are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the desk-based nature of the role. Tax preparation, financial reporting, and management accounting positions are the sub-areas most likely to offer remote or hybrid arrangements.
How can I get hired as an accountant in Arkansas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is an accounts payable, accounts receivable, or bookkeeping assistant role at a regional firm, hospital system, or retail corporate office in Little Rock or the Bentonville-Rogers corridor. Large Arkansas employers like healthcare networks and Walmart's supplier community regularly hire accounting assistants and junior staff accountants for candidates with a bachelor's degree and no prior experience. Pursuing the CPA exam track or earning a QuickBooks or Excel certification before applying gives candidates a measurable edge over others at the same experience level.
Where can I find and apply to accountant jobs in Arkansas?
You can find and apply to accountant jobs in Arkansas on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring across the state right now. Search the listings for roles that match your experience level and specialty, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
