Accounting Clerk Jobs in Kansas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become an accounting clerk in Kansas?
Most accounting clerk positions in Kansas require at least an associate degree in accounting or a related field, though some employers accept candidates with a high school diploma and relevant coursework. Kansas does not require a state-issued license specifically for accounting clerks. Employers in Wichita and the Kansas City metro often prefer candidates who have completed coursework through Kansas community colleges, such as Johnson County Community College or Wichita Area Technical College, and who are familiar with standard accounting software used across Kansas's manufacturing and government sectors.
Which companies hire accounting clerks in Kansas?
Companies currently hiring accounting clerks in Kansas include GoodAutos, Mirror, and Citizens Health, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. Kansas's mix of large manufacturing firms, state agencies, and regional healthcare systems means accounting clerk openings are distributed broadly rather than concentrated in a single industry.
Which Kansas cities have the most accounting clerk jobs?
Overland Park, Colby, and Newton have the most accounting clerk openings in Kansas. Wichita leads due to its large aerospace manufacturing base, while Overland Park and Topeka draw significant volume from corporate headquarters, financial services firms, and state government agencies, making even smaller metros in the Kansas City corridor a consistent source of openings.
Are there remote accounting clerk jobs in Kansas?
Yes, and they're more common than in many fields since accounting clerk work is largely desk-based and document-driven. About 33% of accounting clerk openings tied to Kansas are remote or hybrid as of November 2026, reflecting how well the role translates to distributed work. Accounts payable processing and data reconciliation tasks are the functions most frequently offered in a fully remote or hybrid arrangement by Kansas employers.
How can I get hired as an accounting clerk in Kansas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is completing an associate degree in accounting at a Kansas community college and applying directly to entry-level accounts payable or billing coordinator roles at mid-size companies in Wichita or the Overland Park corridor. Large Kansas employers in healthcare and government, including state agencies in Topeka, regularly hire accounting assistants and bookkeeping clerks who then move into accounting clerk roles. A certified bookkeeper credential from the American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers gives candidates a measurable edge when competing against others without a four-year degree.
Where can I find and apply to accounting clerk jobs in Kansas?
You can find and apply to accounting clerk jobs in Kansas on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring in the state right now. Search the listings to find roles that fit your experience level and location, then apply directly to the ones that match your background.
