Job Title: AR Accounting Clerk
Reports To: Accounting Director
FLSA Status: Full Time/ Non-Exempt
Location: Tysons Corner, VA
Work Hours: 9:00am -5:30pm
SUMMARY
Performs a variety of accounting duties in order to maintain accurate financial and billing records and reports.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
· Timely and accurately processes daily cash receipts and prepares bank deposits for operating and trust accounts, including scanning checks to the bank for deposit.
· Processes client overpayments in accordance with firm policy from determining variance at receipt of payment, processing the deposit through trust and if necessary, contacting the client.
· Copies and scans daily deposit for inclusion in department’s records and so that it’s made available to the shareholders and Executive Director.
· Review client engagement letters to ensure Accounting software reflects correct billing rates and instructions.
· Primary contact for client inquiries on billing and payment of client accounts.
· Handles firm merchant account by processing credit card payments, entering deposits and disbursements.
· Occasional trips to the bank for cash deposits and petty cash.
· Responds to general inquiries and requests from management, attorneys and staff regarding billing and accounting issues.
· Scans accounting filing into document management system.
Secondary Responsibilities:
· Provides coverage when other members of the accounting department are out of the office.
· Aids in updating and closing Accounting Department files and records including periodically purging client billing files.
· Assists in monthly billing cycle and manages mailing of client invoices
