Accounting Clerk Jobs in Massachusetts: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a accounting clerk in Massachusetts?
Massachusetts does not require a state-issued license for accounting clerks, so the path runs through education and employer credentials. Most Massachusetts employers expect at minimum an associate degree in accounting or business from a community college such as Bunker Hill, Quinsigamond, or Bristol Community College. Completing courses in bookkeeping, financial accounting, and payroll fundamentals strengthens your application, and earning a Certified Bookkeeper credential from the American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers is recognized widely by Massachusetts employers.
Which companies hire accounting clerks in Massachusetts?
Massachusetts accounting clerk roles are posted by Charm Sciences, RCL Mechanical, and NEL Corporation and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Massachusetts's deep concentration of financial services firms, hospital systems, and public universities means steady, year-round demand across both the Greater Boston area and regional centers like Worcester and Springfield.
Which Massachusetts cities have the most accounting clerk jobs?
Boston, Natick, and Andover consistently lead Massachusetts in accounting clerk openings. Boston dominates because of its dense cluster of financial services firms, teaching hospitals, and corporate headquarters, while Worcester and Springfield generate steady demand through their regional healthcare systems, manufacturers, and municipal government offices that maintain in-house accounting departments.
Are there remote accounting clerk jobs in Massachusetts?
Yes, and more than many roles, because accounting clerk work centers on data entry, reconciliation, and software-based tasks that translate well to remote settings. About 0% of accounting clerk openings tied to Massachusetts are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with the majority of those positions concentrated in accounts payable and billing functions at larger organizations. On-site arrangements remain common wherever physical document handling or direct cash management is involved.
How can I get hired as a accounting clerk in Massachusetts with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is landing a part-time or temporary accounting support role through a staffing firm, then converting to permanent employment. Large Massachusetts hospital networks like Mass General Brigham and Beth Israel Deaconess routinely hire accounting assistants and billing associates with no prior experience beyond coursework. Completing a QuickBooks certification or a Microsoft Excel course signals readiness to Massachusetts employers, and a lateral move from a customer service or administrative coordinator role at a financial services or healthcare organization is a common bridge into the field.
Where can I find and apply to accounting clerk jobs in Massachusetts?
You can find and apply to accounting clerk jobs in Massachusetts on Migrate Mate, which lists current Massachusetts openings updated regularly. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience level, preferred location, and specialization, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
