Community colleges across the state, including Middlesex College and Bergen Community College, offer accounting certificate and degree programs that align with what local employers look for. Candidates who pair coursework with QuickBooks or Excel certifications tend to move through the hiring process faster, particularly with mid-size businesses and healthcare organizations in the state.

Which New Jersey cities have the most accounting clerk jobs?

Newark and Jersey City generate high volume because of their financial services and corporate headquarters density, while suburban hubs like Parsippany-Troy Hills and Iselin attract openings from major pharmaceutical and insurance employers anchored along the Route 1 and I-287 corridors.

Accounts payable processing and invoice management tend to be the sub-functions most consistently offered on a remote or hybrid basis.
How can I get hired as a accounting clerk in New Jersey with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for accounts payable or data-entry roles at mid-size businesses and healthcare systems, which typically require less prior experience than large corporate employers. New Jersey community colleges such as Union County College and Raritan Valley Community College offer cooperative education programs that connect students with local employers for paid work experience. Transitioning from adjacent roles like administrative assistant or billing coordinator at a New Jersey hospital network or staffing firm is another common route into the field.
