Accounting Specialist Jobs in New Jersey: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a accounting specialist in New Jersey?
Most accounting specialist roles in New Jersey require at least an associate degree in accounting or finance, with a bachelor's degree preferred by larger employers. New Jersey does not require a state license for non-CPA accounting specialists, but earning a designation such as the Certified Bookkeeper credential through the American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers strengthens candidacy. Many employers in the state value hands-on experience with ERP systems alongside formal education.
Which companies hire accounting specialists in New Jersey?
Employers hiring accounting specialists in New Jersey right now include H-Mart, Jobot, and Holman, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. New Jersey's concentration of pharmaceutical headquarters, financial services firms, and large logistics companies means consistent demand for specialists across both corporate and shared-services accounting functions.
Which New Jersey cities have the most accounting specialist jobs?
Whippany, Lyndhurst, and Edison have the most accounting specialist openings in New Jersey. The northern part of the state, particularly around Newark and Jersey City, is driven by financial services and corporate shared-services centers, while Princeton and the surrounding Mercer County area draws demand from pharmaceutical and technology headquarters that maintain in-house accounting teams.
Are there remote accounting specialist jobs in New Jersey?
Yes, and more than many comparable roles, since accounting specialist work is largely desk-based and systems-driven. About 25% of accounting specialist openings tied to New Jersey are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how readily this work translates to distributed teams. Accounts payable processing and general ledger reconciliation are the sub-functions most commonly offered on a remote or hybrid basis.
How can I get hired as a accounting specialist in New Jersey with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for accounts payable or accounts receivable clerk roles, which large New Jersey employers in pharma and financial services regularly fill with recent graduates. Companies such as Prudential Financial and major hospital systems like RWJBarnabas Health hire for entry-level finance support roles that build toward specialist titles. An associate degree in accounting plus QuickBooks or Excel proficiency makes a candidate competitive, and a Certified Bookkeeper credential provides an additional edge over applicants without direct experience.
Where can I find and apply to accounting specialist jobs in New Jersey?
You can find and apply to accounting specialist jobs in New Jersey on Migrate Mate, which lists current New Jersey openings in one place. Search the available roles, identify the ones that match your background and location, and apply directly to whichever positions fit.
