Investment Jobs in Kansas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become an investment professional in Kansas?
Most investment roles in Kansas require a bachelor's degree in finance, economics, or accounting, followed by licensing through FINRA. For client-facing advisory work, you must pass the Series 65 exam or a combination of the Series 7 and Series 66, which are administered nationally but recognized in Kansas. The Kansas Office of the Securities Commissioner oversees investment adviser registration in the state. Many candidates also pursue the CFA credential to strengthen their candidacy for portfolio and analyst roles.
Which companies hire investments in Kansas?
Companies currently hiring investments in Kansas include OneDigital, Advisors Excel, and Black & Veatch, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Kansas's concentration of large insurance carriers, regional banks, and diversified conglomerates like Koch Industries creates consistent openings in both public markets and private capital roles.
Which Kansas cities have the most investment jobs?
Overland Park, Topeka, and Wichita account for the largest share of investment openings in Kansas. Overland Park and the broader Kansas City metro drive the most volume, reflecting the area's concentration of regional bank headquarters, insurance companies, and financial advisory firms, while Wichita adds significant demand from its manufacturing and energy finance sectors.
Are there remote investment jobs in Kansas?
Yes, and they are more common in investment than in many fields. About 75% of investment openings tied to Kansas are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the desk-based and analytical nature of much of the work. Research analyst, financial modeling, and compliance roles are the most frequently offered in fully remote formats, while client-facing wealth management roles typically require in-person presence.
How can I get hired as an investment professional in Kansas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is securing a financial analyst associate or junior analyst role at a regional bank or insurance company in Overland Park or Wichita. Large Kansas employers in financial services, including regional credit unions and insurance carriers, run rotational analyst programs designed for recent graduates. Completing the Series 65 exam before applying gives candidates a clear advantage, and internships through the University of Kansas or Wichita State University finance programs frequently convert to full-time offers.
Where can I find and apply to investment jobs in Kansas?
