Staff Accountant Jobs in Kansas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a staff accountant in Kansas?
Most staff accountant roles in Kansas require a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field. A CPA license is not required to work as a staff accountant, but many Kansas employers prefer candidates who are CPA-eligible or actively pursuing licensure through the Kansas Board of Accountancy, which administers CPA certification in the state. Candidates who sit for the CPA exam while working in entry-level accounting roles are consistently competitive in the Kansas market.
Which companies hire staff accountants in Kansas?
Employers hiring staff accountants in Kansas right now include ziwi, Tenex.Ai, and CGP, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Kansas's mix of large manufacturers, agricultural businesses, healthcare networks, and aviation companies means consistent year-round openings across industries rather than hiring concentrated in one sector.
Which Kansas cities have the most staff accountant jobs?
Overland Park, Wichita, and Lawrence account for the most staff accountant openings in Kansas. Wichita drives demand through its aviation and manufacturing base, Overland Park draws from the dense corporate corridor along the I-435 loop, and Kansas City benefits from its regional financial services and healthcare anchor institutions on both sides of the state line.
Are there remote staff accountant jobs in Kansas?
Yes, and more than most fields, because staff accounting work centers on data, software systems, and reporting rather than on-site operations. About 44% of staff accountant openings tied to Kansas are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, which reflects both employer flexibility and the desk-based nature of the work. General ledger, accounts payable, and financial reporting roles are the most commonly offered in remote or hybrid formats.
How can I get hired as a staff accountant in Kansas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for accounts payable, accounts receivable, or bookkeeping roles at Kansas-based manufacturers, healthcare systems, or credit unions, then moving into a staff accountant title once you have a year of transactional experience. Large Kansas employers such as healthcare networks and regional banks often hire accounting assistants or junior accounting associates as structured entry points. Completing the first section of the CPA exam or earning a certified bookkeeper credential through the American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers significantly strengthens an application with no prior staff accountant title.
Where can I find and apply to staff accountant jobs in Kansas?
You can find and apply to staff accountant jobs in Kansas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Kansas openings in one place. Search the listings to find roles that match your background and apply directly to the ones that fit your experience and location preferences.
