Investment Jobs in New Jersey: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a investment in New Jersey?
Most investment roles in New Jersey require registering with FINRA and obtaining the relevant securities license for your function, such as the Series 7 for broker-dealer work or the Series 65 for investment advisory roles, with registration administered through the New Jersey Bureau of Securities. A bachelor's degree in finance, economics, or accounting is the standard baseline, and many employers prefer candidates who are CFA candidates or holders for analytical and portfolio-focused positions.
Which companies hire investments in New Jersey?
Companies currently hiring investments in New Jersey include PGIM, JPMorganChase, and Prudential, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. New Jersey's concentration of major insurance carriers, asset managers, and regional banks creates consistent demand for investment professionals at all levels.
Which New Jersey cities have the most investment jobs?
Jersey City, Newark, and Princeton have the most investment openings in New Jersey. Jersey City and Newark draw the bulk of demand because of their proximity to Wall Street and the large financial services headquarters based there, while Princeton attracts asset management and institutional investment roles tied to the academic and research corridor that runs through central New Jersey.
Are there remote investment jobs in New Jersey?
Yes, and more than many financial roles, particularly for research, quantitative analysis, and compliance functions that are desk-based and output-driven. About 78% of investment openings tied to New Jersey are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the shift among asset managers and fintech-adjacent firms toward flexible arrangements. Client-facing advisory and trading roles remain predominantly on-site.
How can I get hired as a investment in New Jersey with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a rotational analyst program or associate role at one of New Jersey's large financial institutions, such as those run by Prudential Financial or Investors Bank, which recruit recent graduates directly. Lateral entry from adjacent roles in accounting, financial planning, or banking operations is common and well-accepted. Completing the Series 65 exam and building a demonstrable portfolio or model, even through coursework, gives candidates a concrete edge in a competitive applicant pool.
