Accounting Intern Jobs in Oklahoma: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a accounting intern in Oklahoma?
Most Oklahoma employers require active enrollment in an accredited accounting or finance program at an Oklahoma college or university, such as the University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma State University, or the University of Tulsa. A strong GPA and completed coursework in financial accounting and cost accounting are the primary filters. While Oklahoma does not require a state license to work as an intern, candidates who have passed one or more sections of the CPA exam stand out significantly in competitive hiring cycles.
Which companies hire accounting interns in Oklahoma?
Oklahoma accounting intern roles are posted by Williams, CVS Health, and University of Oklahoma and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Oklahoma's energy sector and regional banking industry consistently drive the highest volume of accounting intern openings in the state.
Which Oklahoma cities have the most accounting intern jobs?
Tulsa, Oklahoma City, and Edmond have the most accounting intern openings in Oklahoma. Oklahoma City leads due to its concentration of energy company headquarters, state government agencies, and regional financial institutions, while Tulsa draws significant demand from oil and gas firms, aerospace companies, and healthcare systems anchored there, making both metros consistently active markets for accounting interns.
Are there remote accounting intern jobs in Oklahoma?
Yes, though they are less common than in-person roles, since most Oklahoma employers prefer interns on-site for mentorship and system access. About 24% of accounting intern openings tied to Oklahoma are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting a modest but real share of flexible arrangements. Financial reporting, data reconciliation, and accounts payable support tasks are the portions of the intern role most frequently offered in a remote or hybrid format.
How can I get hired as a accounting intern in Oklahoma with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying directly to structured internship programs run by large Oklahoma employers during campus recruiting cycles in the fall and spring. Devon Energy, BOK Financial, and ONEOK all operate formal intern cohorts that accept candidates without prior professional accounting experience, prioritizing coursework and GPA instead. Volunteering with a university accounting clinic or completing a tax preparation role through the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program gives candidates documented, resume-ready experience that Oklahoma employers recognize as a meaningful credential substitute.
Where can I find and apply to accounting intern jobs in Oklahoma?
You can find and apply to accounting intern jobs in Oklahoma on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers actively hiring in the state. Search the available roles, find a position that fits your background and availability, and apply directly to the employer through the listing.
