Adjunct Instructor Jobs in Louisiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a adjunct instructor in Louisiana?
Becoming an adjunct instructor in Louisiana typically requires a master's degree in the discipline you plan to teach, though a bachelor's degree with substantial professional experience may satisfy requirements in technical or workforce programs. Louisiana does not issue a state teaching license for postsecondary adjuncts, so hiring decisions rest entirely with individual institutions. Community colleges like Baton Rouge Community College and regional campuses of the University of Louisiana System set their own minimum qualifications and apply directly through their human resources portals.
Which companies hire adjunct instructors in Louisiana?
Companies currently hiring adjunct instructors in Louisiana include SOWELA, Goodwill Industries, and South Louisiana Community College, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Louisiana's large public university system, community college network, and private institutions with regional campuses generate consistent semester-by-semester openings across disciplines.
Which Louisiana cities have the most adjunct instructor jobs?
New Orleans, Lake Charles, and Baton Rouge have the most adjunct instructor openings in Louisiana. Baton Rouge leads because of the concentration of flagship institutions including LSU and Southern University, while New Orleans draws demand from Tulane, Loyola, Xavier, and Delgado, and Lafayette reflects strong enrollment growth tied to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and nearby technical college campuses.
Are there remote adjunct instructor jobs in Louisiana?
Yes, and they are more common in this field than in many others. About 50% of adjunct instructor openings tied to Louisiana are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the broad expansion of online course delivery across Louisiana's public and private institutions. Fully online sections in business, general education, and professional development tend to offer the most remote teaching opportunities.
How can I get hired as a adjunct instructor in Louisiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to teach in a field where you hold a master's degree and relevant professional background, even without prior classroom experience. Louisiana community colleges, including the Louisiana Community and Technical College System campuses, regularly hire first-time instructors for workforce and continuing education courses in healthcare, technology, and trades. Building a simple course portfolio, earning a teaching certificate through a community college professional development program, and applying for associate or developmental education roles are practical steps that lower the experience barrier.
Where can I find and apply to adjunct instructor jobs in Louisiana?
You can find and apply to adjunct instructor jobs in Louisiana on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from institutions and employers across the state. Search the listings to find roles that match your subject area and availability, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
