About the Opportunity
Coastal Eye is seeking an experienced, personable Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) to join our state-of-the-art, private Office-Based Surgical suite in Greenwich, CT on a per diem basis.
Operating under the medical direction of our founder - Yale-trained, dual-fellowship cataract and vitreoretinal surgeon, our surgical suite has safely and efficiently completed over 3,000 ophthalmic procedures (advanced cataract and micro-incision vitrectomy surgeries).
This is an ideal, low-stress role for a CRNA looking for per diem hours in a modern, concierge medical environment without the physical and administrative burnout of hospital ORs or heavy ASC turnovers.

- Strictly Oral Sedation: All patients receive a standardized oral sedation protocol (5mg Valium) and topical/local ophthalmic anesthesia.
- No IVs or Airways: Zero IV placements, zero intubations, and no heavy anesthetic induction.
- No Pre-Op Testing (PATs): You will not be responsible for pre-admission testing, pre-op clearances, or complex pre-op charting.
- Rapid, Predictable Cases: Procedures range from 5 to 20 minutes in a highly refined, high-efficiency workflow.
- Daytime Hours Only: No nights, no weekends, no holidays, and no on-call requirements.
- Autonomous & Collaborative: Work directly alongside a single MD owner/surgeon and a dedicated, seasoned ophthalmic surgical team. While our suite is fully equipped with standard emergency gear (defibrillator, bag-valve-mask, and a fully stocked crash cart), management is completely open to ordering any additional monitoring or clinical equipment you prefer to feel most comfortable.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide dedicated intra-operative patient monitoring during brief ophthalmic surgical procedures.
- Monitor and document vital signs strictly via non-invasive blood pressure cuff and pulse oximetry.
- Provide calm, reassuring verbal support ("vocal local") to awake, mildly sedated patients during their 5-20 minute procedures.
- Maintain clear, concise intra-operative monitoring records in compliance with office-based surgery standards.
- Ensure emergency readiness of the suite alongside the clinical team.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Active, unencumbered Connecticut APRN / CRNA license (Required).
- Current NBCRNA certification.
- Active BLS and ACLS certifications.
- Warm, reassuring bedside manner suited for awake, geriatric, and concierge surgical patients.
- Reliability and punctuality for scheduled surgical block days.
Schedule & Compensation
- Job Type: Per Diem (Consistent surgical block days scheduled in advance).
- Location: Greenwich, CT (Easily accessible off I-95 / Merritt Parkway, near the NY border).
- Compensation: Competitive hourly rate or guaranteed daily block rate, commensurate with experience.
