Paramedic Jobs in Connecticut: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a paramedic in Connecticut?
To become a paramedic in Connecticut, you must complete a state-approved paramedic education program, pass the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians cognitive and psychomotor exams, and then apply for Connecticut certification through the Connecticut Office of Emergency Medical Services. Most programs require you to already hold an EMT credential before enrollment. Connecticut certifies paramedics at the state level and recognizes the National Registry credential as the examination standard.
How much do paramedics make in Connecticut?
Paramedics in Connecticut earn a median of about $77,480 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $60,370 for the lowest 10% to over $90,060 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire paramedics in Connecticut?
Connecticut paramedic roles are posted by Hartford HealthCare, Medcor, and Northwell Health and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Large hospital-based EMS systems and regional ambulance services tied to Connecticut's major health networks tend to post the most consistent volume throughout the year.
Which Connecticut cities have the most paramedic jobs?
Hartford, Middletown, and Norwalk have the most paramedic openings in Connecticut right now. Hartford and New Haven lead because of their large hospital systems and high call-volume urban cores, while Bridgeport generates steady demand through its population density and the emergency services contracts that anchor Fairfield County's EMS network.
Are there remote paramedic jobs in Connecticut?
Yes, but they're rare. About 0% of paramedic openings tied to Connecticut are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting the hands-on nature of most field and transport roles. The exceptions tend to be EMS education coordinator, quality assurance, or medical billing positions attached to Connecticut ambulance services or hospital EMS departments.
How can I get hired as a paramedic in Connecticut with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is securing your Connecticut paramedic certification first and then applying to field training programs run by regional ambulance services or hospital-based EMS departments affiliated with systems like Yale New Haven Health or Hartford HealthCare. Starting as an EMT-Basic or EMT-Advanced within those organizations is a common lateral move that puts you in line for paramedic vacancies as they open. Completing your National Registry credential and any ACLS or PALS coursework before applying gives you a concrete edge over candidates who have not yet finished those requirements.
Where can I find and apply to paramedic jobs in Connecticut?
You can find and apply to paramedic jobs in Connecticut on Migrate Mate, which lists current Connecticut openings updated regularly. Search the listings to find roles that match your certification level, preferred region, and shift preferences, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
