Anesthetist Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a anesthetist in Texas?
To work as a CRNA in Texas, you must hold an active registered nurse license issued or recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing, complete an accredited nurse anesthesia graduate program, and pass the National Certification Examination administered by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists. Texas requires CRNAs to maintain current NBCRNA certification and renew their nursing license on a two-year cycle through the Texas Board of Nursing.
How much do anesthetists make in Texas?
Anesthetists in Texas earn a median of about $244,990 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $169,350 for the lowest 10% to over $340,950 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire anesthetists in Texas?
Employers hiring anesthetists in Texas right now include Baylor College of Medicine, CHRISTUS Health, and Sound Physicians, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's large integrated health systems and its dense network of ambulatory surgery centers consistently generate some of the highest anesthesia staffing volumes in the country.
Which Texas cities have the most anesthetist jobs?
Houston, Fort Worth, and Dallas lead Texas in anesthetist openings. Houston's concentration of Level I trauma centers, cancer facilities, and cardiac programs drives the largest volume, while Dallas and San Antonio each support major academic medical centers and high-capacity community hospital systems that maintain consistent anesthesia staffing needs across specialties.
Are there remote anesthetist jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. Anesthesia is a hands-on, procedure-room role that requires physical presence, so remote openings represent a small share of total listings. About 0% of anesthetist openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026. The positions that do offer any flexibility tend to be in anesthesia leadership, education, or quality management rather than direct clinical care.
How can I get hired as a anesthetist in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is securing a critical care or ICU nursing role at a large Texas health system such as Baylor Scott & White, Texas Children's Hospital, or HCA Healthcare, then applying to an accredited nurse anesthesia program after accumulating the required acute care experience. Several Texas academic medical centers affiliated with UT Health, Texas A&M, and UTHealth Houston offer nurse anesthesia programs that funnel graduates into affiliated clinical sites. Holding an active Texas Board of Nursing license and CCRN certification before applying strengthens candidacy considerably.
Where can I find and apply to anesthetist jobs in Texas?
