Assistant General Manager Jobs in Kansas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a assistant general manager in Kansas?
Most assistant general manager roles in Kansas require a bachelor's degree in business, hospitality management, or a related field, combined with several years of progressively responsible supervisory experience. No statewide license is required for the role itself, but those entering hospitality or food service management should hold a Kansas Food Handler or Food Manager certification from the Kansas Department of Agriculture, which many employers treat as a baseline requirement.
Which companies hire assistant general managers in Kansas?
Companies currently hiring assistant general managers in Kansas include Wendy's, Burger King, and Chili's Grill & Bar, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Kansas's concentration of regional retail chains, health systems, and hospitality groups means openings appear consistently throughout the year rather than clustering around a single hiring season.
Which Kansas cities have the most assistant general manager jobs?
Wichita, Overland Park, and Olathe have the most assistant general manager openings in Kansas. Wichita drives volume through its aerospace-adjacent hospitality and retail economy, while the Kansas City metro and Overland Park benefit from corporate headquarters, large health systems, and a dense concentration of national restaurant and retail brands anchored in Johnson County.
Are there remote assistant general manager jobs in Kansas?
Yes, but they're rare. Assistant general manager work is fundamentally operational and floor-based, so most roles require on-site presence to supervise staff and manage day-to-day activities. About 0% of assistant general manager openings tied to Kansas are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those positions tend to involve back-office functions such as scheduling, reporting, or vendor coordination rather than direct operational oversight.
How can I get hired as a assistant general manager in Kansas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving up from a shift supervisor or department lead role within the same organization. Large Kansas employers like HCA Midwest Health and regional hotel groups affiliated with Wichita's convention economy frequently promote from within and post internal management trainee programs for candidates without formal AGM experience. Building a record in a named adjacent role, such as shift manager, assistant store manager, or floor supervisor, while completing a business or hospitality degree from a Kansas institution strengthens a candidacy considerably.
Where can I find and apply to assistant general manager jobs in Kansas?
