Assistant General Manager Jobs in Maryland: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a assistant general manager in Maryland?
The most direct path is earning a bachelor's degree in business administration, hospitality, or retail management, then building supervisory experience in a relevant industry. Maryland does not issue a state license specifically for assistant general managers, but those working in food service operations typically need a valid Food Service Manager Certification recognized by the Maryland Department of Health. From there, employers look for candidates who have managed multi-department teams and held measurable P&L responsibility.
Which companies hire assistant general managers in Maryland?
Employers hiring assistant general managers in Maryland right now include CAVA, Taco Bell, and KBP Brands, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Maryland's concentration of hotel brands, regional grocery chains, and large property management groups means openings appear consistently throughout the year across the Baltimore metro and the D.C. suburbs.
Which Maryland cities have the most assistant general manager jobs?
Baltimore, Frederick, and Linthicum Heights lead Maryland for assistant general manager openings. Baltimore drives the largest share through its hotel corridor, Inner Harbor hospitality venues, and retail anchors, while the suburban Washington markets in Bethesda, Rockville, and Silver Spring reflect the dense commercial activity generated by the National Capital Region's corporate offices, mixed-use developments, and regional shopping centers.
Are there remote assistant general manager jobs in Maryland?
Yes, but they're rare. About 0% of assistant general manager openings tied to Maryland are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting the hands-on nature of most roles in this field. The portions of the role most likely to carry any remote flexibility are administrative duties, vendor coordination, and reporting, while floor leadership, staff scheduling, and guest or customer-facing operations remain on-site.
How can I get hired as a assistant general manager in Maryland with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving up from a department supervisor or shift leader role within the same organization. Large Maryland employers like Marriott International and Giant Food run structured leadership development programs that regularly place high-performing supervisors into assistant general manager roles. Candidates who hold a Food Service Manager Certification from the Maryland Department of Health, or who have completed a hospitality management associate degree from a Maryland community college, stand out in applicant pools and tend to move into consideration faster than those without either credential.
Where can I find and apply to assistant general manager jobs in Maryland?
You can find and apply to assistant general manager jobs in Maryland on Migrate Mate, which lists current Maryland openings. Search the roles available, identify the ones that fit your background and location, and apply directly to the employers posting them. No profile creation is required to view or apply to the listings.
