Assistant Property Manager Jobs in Rhode Island: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become an assistant property manager in Rhode Island?
Rhode Island does not require a state-issued license specifically for assistant property managers, but property managers who negotiate leases may need a real estate salesperson license issued through the Rhode Island Department of Business Regulation. Most employers expect a background in business or real estate, familiarity with landlord-tenant law, and hands-on experience in leasing or residential administration. Earning a Certified Apartment Associate credential from the National Apartment Association strengthens your application considerably.
Which companies hire assistant property managers in Rhode Island?
Employers hiring assistant property managers in Rhode Island right now include Blue Castle Agency, Ferland Corporation, and Maloney Properties, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Rhode Island's concentration of large residential communities and commercial portfolios in the Providence metro means many of these openings come from regional firms managing multi-family and mixed-use properties.
Which Rhode Island cities have the most assistant property manager jobs?
Providence, Middletown, and Rumford have the most assistant property manager openings in Rhode Island. Providence drives the largest share of listings given its dense urban rental market, university-adjacent housing demand, and ongoing mixed-use development, while Warwick and Newport attract openings through their commercial real estate activity and seasonal residential portfolios.
Are there remote assistant property manager jobs in Rhode Island?
Yes, but they're rare. About 25% of assistant property manager openings tied to Rhode Island are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how hands-on the role tends to be with property inspections, maintenance coordination, and in-person resident interactions. The tasks most likely to shift remote are administrative duties such as lease processing, reporting, and vendor communication.
How can I get hired as an assistant property manager in Rhode Island with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for a leasing consultant or property management coordinator role at a larger Rhode Island apartment community, where on-the-job training leads directly to assistant property manager responsibilities. Firms managing large residential portfolios in the Providence area regularly bring on entry-level staff and promote from within. Completing a Certified Apartment Associate program and demonstrating customer service experience in retail, hospitality, or office administration makes candidates competitive without prior property management titles.
Where can I find and apply to assistant property manager jobs in Rhode Island?
You can find and apply to assistant property manager jobs in Rhode Island on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your background and location, and apply directly through each listing.
