Auditor Jobs in Delaware: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a auditor in Delaware?
To become a licensed auditor in Delaware, you must earn a CPA license through the Delaware Board of Accountancy, which requires a bachelor's degree with sufficient accounting and business coursework, passage of the Uniform CPA Examination, and completion of the required hours of supervised experience. Candidates working toward licensure often begin in staff auditor or accounting associate roles at Delaware firms or corporate internal audit departments while accumulating qualifying experience.
How much do auditors make in Delaware?
Auditors in Delaware earn a median of about $95,020 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $60,500 for the lowest 10% to over $132,550 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire auditors in Delaware?
Delaware auditor roles are posted by Coast to Coast Merchandising and Installations, ICF, and Hologic and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Delaware's high density of corporate headquarters, major banks, and state government agencies means auditor demand is spread across both the private and public sectors throughout the year.
Which Delaware cities have the most auditor jobs?
Wilmington, Newark, and New Castle are the Delaware cities with the most auditor openings. Wilmington leads because it is Delaware's primary financial and corporate hub, home to major bank operations and hundreds of registered corporate headquarters, while Dover draws public-sector audit demand as the state capital, and Newark benefits from proximity to the University of Delaware and regional business services employers.
Are there remote auditor jobs in Delaware?
Yes, and more than many comparable professional roles. About 25% of auditor openings tied to Delaware are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the largely desk-based and analytical nature of audit work. The positions most frequently offered remotely are internal audit and compliance roles at Delaware's large corporate and financial services employers, while government and on-site internal audit roles tend to require in-person attendance.
How can I get hired as a auditor in Delaware with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to staff auditor or audit associate roles at Delaware public accounting firms or the internal audit departments of Wilmington-area banks and corporations, which regularly bring on candidates with no prior audit experience. Large Delaware employers and the State of Delaware Division of Accounting offer rotational and entry-level programs designed for recent graduates. Earning or actively pursuing the CPA credential and gaining familiarity with audit software significantly strengthens an application for candidates without experience.
