Behavior Technician Jobs in Vermont: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a behavior technician in Vermont?
Vermont does not issue a state license specifically for behavior technicians, so the standard path is earning the Registered Behavior Technician credential through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board. You complete at least forty hours of competency-based training, pass the RBT exam, and work under the ongoing supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. Most Vermont employers in school districts, autism clinics, and community mental health agencies require the RBT before hiring.
Which companies hire behavior technicians in Vermont?
Employers hiring behavior technicians in Vermont right now include Green Mountain Behavior Consulting, Powerback Rehabilitation, and Patterns Behavioral Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Vermont's community mental health agencies and school-contracted ABA providers tend to be the most consistent sources of full-time openings throughout the year.
Which Vermont cities have the most behavior technician jobs?
Montpelier, Barre, and Randolph have the most behavior technician openings in Vermont. Burlington drives the largest share because it anchors the state's biggest concentration of autism service providers, school districts, and community health organizations, while Rutland and Montpelier reflect regional agency hubs that serve surrounding rural counties.
Are there remote behavior technician jobs in Vermont?
Yes, but they're rare. Behavior technician work is largely hands-on and conducted in homes, schools, and clinics, which limits remote options. About 0% of behavior technician openings tied to Vermont are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those tend to be limited to telehealth parent-training sessions or administrative coordination roles rather than direct therapy delivery.
How can I get hired as a behavior technician in Vermont with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for a paraprofessional or educational technician role in a Vermont school district, where on-the-job ABA training is common and the RBT credential is often supported by the employer. Howard Center and Lund Family Center in Burlington both hire candidates without prior clinical experience and provide the supervised fieldwork hours needed to earn RBT certification. Completing a certification-prep course through a community college and securing a CPR card before applying gives candidates a clear edge.
Where can I find and apply to behavior technician jobs in Vermont?
You can find and apply to behavior technician jobs in Vermont on Migrate Mate, which lists current Vermont openings in one place. Search the listings, find roles that match your credentials and location, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
