BI Analyst Jobs in Maryland: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a bi analyst in Maryland?
Most Maryland employers require a bachelor's degree in data analytics, information systems, business, or a related field. There is no state-issued license specific to bi analysts in Maryland, so the path centers on building technical skills in SQL and BI platforms, then gaining experience in one of Maryland's dominant sectors such as federal contracting, healthcare, or financial services. A portfolio of dashboard projects and a certification from a recognized BI platform strengthens a Maryland application considerably.
How much do BI analysts make in Maryland?
BI analysts in Maryland earn a median of about $136,370 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $77,930 for the lowest 10% to over $213,270 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire bi analysts in Maryland?
Companies currently hiring bi analysts in Maryland include Johns Hopkins Health System, The Johns Hopkins University, and Akima, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Maryland's concentration of federal contractors and large healthcare systems means demand is spread across both government-adjacent firms and major regional employers headquartered in the Baltimore and D.C. suburban corridor.
Which Maryland cities have the most bi analyst jobs?
The cities with the most bi analyst openings in Maryland are Baltimore, Bethesda, and Rockville. Baltimore anchors demand through its large healthcare systems and financial institutions, while the D.C. suburbs around Bethesda, Rockville, and Columbia draw openings from federal contractors and government agencies with significant Maryland footprints.
Are there remote bi analyst jobs in Maryland?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 40% of bi analyst openings tied to Maryland are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how central this role is to desk-based analytical and reporting work. The tasks most commonly done remotely include dashboard development, data modeling, and report delivery, while stakeholder presentations and cross-team collaboration tend to favor hybrid arrangements at Maryland employers.
How can I get hired as a bi analyst in Maryland with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Maryland is through a junior analyst or data analyst associate role at a healthcare system or federal contractor, where volume and team size create consistent openings for candidates without deep experience. Large Maryland employers like University of Maryland Medical System and Northrop Grumman run associate and rotational programs that accept candidates from adjacent roles such as data coordinator, reporting specialist, or business operations analyst. Building a portfolio of Power BI or Tableau projects and earning an entry-level BI platform certification gives Maryland applicants a concrete edge when experience is limited.
Where can I find and apply to bi analyst jobs in Maryland?
You can find and apply to bi analyst jobs in Maryland on Migrate Mate, which lists current Maryland openings across industries. Search for roles that match your background, seniority level, and preferred location within the state, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
