BI Analyst Jobs in Michigan: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a bi analyst in Michigan?
Most bi analyst positions in Michigan require a bachelor's degree in business analytics, information systems, computer science, or a closely related field. There is no state-issued license for this role in Michigan. Employers typically look for demonstrated proficiency in tools like Power BI or Tableau, solid SQL skills, and familiarity with the industry vertical they operate in, whether automotive, healthcare, or manufacturing. Certifications from Microsoft or Tableau can strengthen a candidate's profile considerably.
How much do BI analysts make in Michigan?
BI analysts in Michigan earn a median of about $100,590 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $60,830 for the lowest 10% to over $162,670 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire bi analysts in Michigan?
Employers hiring bi analysts in Michigan right now include Amway, Dacut, and Niterra, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Michigan's concentration of automotive manufacturers, large integrated health systems, and regional financial institutions means demand is spread across multiple industries rather than a single sector.
Which Michigan cities have the most bi analyst jobs?
Novi, Detroit, and Grand Rapids account for the largest share of bi analyst openings in Michigan. Detroit and its suburbs drive volume through automotive and financial services headquarters, while Ann Arbor's presence of university-affiliated health systems and technology firms and Grand Rapids' growing healthcare and manufacturing sector explain why those markets appear consistently in listings.
Are there remote bi analyst jobs in Michigan?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 75% of bi analyst openings tied to Michigan are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the desk-based, data-driven nature of the work. Reporting, dashboard development, and ad hoc analysis tasks are the most commonly offered as remote, while roles requiring close collaboration with operations or plant-floor teams tend to be on-site.
How can I get hired as a bi analyst in Michigan with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a junior or associate analyst role at a Michigan-based health system, automotive supplier, or regional bank, where structured rotational programs and new-graduate hiring pipelines exist. Henry Ford Health, Stellantis, and Consumers Energy are examples of Michigan employer types that hire analysts at the junior level. Lateral moves from roles like data coordinator, operations analyst, or reporting specialist are common. Building a portfolio of Power BI or Tableau dashboards using public datasets gives candidates without work history a concrete edge.
Where can I find and apply to bi analyst jobs in Michigan?
