Business Consultant Jobs in Hawaii: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a business consultant in Hawaii?
Most business consultant roles in Hawaii require at minimum a bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, economics, or a related field, with a master's degree preferred for senior positions. Hawaii does not issue a state license specifically for business consultants, so credentials like the Project Management Professional certification or a Certified Management Consultant designation carry the most weight with local employers. Government-facing roles may also require security clearance eligibility given the volume of federal contracting work on Oahu.
How much do business consultants make in Hawaii?
Business consultants in Hawaii earn a median of about $101,750 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $66,060 for the lowest 10% to over $156,000 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire business consultants in Hawaii?
Hawaii business consultant roles are posted by Victra-Verizon Authorized Retailer, CVS Health, and Zeus Fire and Security and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hawaii's mix of federal defense contracts, state government agencies, and large hospitality and healthcare organizations means demand cuts across multiple industries rather than a single dominant sector.
Which Hawaii cities have the most business consultant jobs?
Honolulu, Kahului, and Hilo account for the largest share of business consultant openings in Hawaii. Honolulu drives the majority of demand as the state's commercial, government, and financial hub, while Kapolei's growing corporate and public-sector campuses attract consulting work tied to infrastructure and economic development projects, and Hilo serves as a regional center for government and healthcare consulting on the Big Island.
Are there remote business consultant jobs in Hawaii?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 17% of business consultant openings tied to Hawaii are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the desk-based and analytical nature of much of the work. Strategy, financial analysis, and technology advisory projects are the most commonly offered in remote or hybrid formats, while roles requiring direct client presence at government agencies or resort properties tend to be fully on-site.
How can I get hired as a business consultant in Hawaii with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a business analyst or junior consultant role at a firm with an established Hawaii practice, such as a Big Four accounting office or a federal contractor operating out of Honolulu. Booz Allen Hamilton and Deloitte both recruit new graduates for analyst programs that serve their Hawaii and Pacific-region clients. Lateral moves from state government administrative or program coordinator positions are also common. Earning a Project Management Professional or Lean Six Sigma certification before applying gives candidates without consulting experience a measurable edge.
Where can I find and apply to business consultant jobs in Hawaii?
You can find and apply to business consultant jobs in Hawaii on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring across the state right now. Search the listings, find roles that match your background and location preference, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
