Business Development Consultant Jobs in Hawaii: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a business development consultant in Hawaii?
Business development consulting in Hawaii has no state-issued license or board exam, so the path runs through education and employer credentialing. Most Hawaii employers expect at least a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related discipline, and many prefer candidates with an MBA or a professional certification such as a Certified Business Development Professional designation. Building experience in Hawaii's dominant sectors, including tourism, defense, or financial services, and developing existing client relationships in the local market significantly strengthens any application.
Which companies hire business development consultants in Hawaii?
Companies currently hiring business development consultants in Hawaii include Victra-Verizon Authorized Retailer, CVS Health, and Zeus Fire and Security, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hawaii's mix of federal contractors, utilities, hospitality groups, and regional banks creates consistent year-round demand for business development professionals across multiple industries.
Which Hawaii cities have the most business development consultant jobs?
Honolulu, Kahului, and Hilo have the most business development consultant openings in Hawaii. Honolulu dominates because it is home to the state's largest corporate headquarters, federal agency offices, and financial institutions, while secondary markets like Kailua-Kona and Kahului are driven by resort development firms and regional businesses expanding across the neighbor islands.
Are there remote business development consultant jobs in Hawaii?
Yes, and more than most fields, because business development work is largely relationship-driven and desk-based rather than tied to a physical site. About 17% of business development consultant openings tied to Hawaii are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting broader trends in consultative sales and strategy roles. Client-facing prospecting and in-person presentations tend to remain on-site, while research, proposal writing, and pipeline management are the functions most commonly performed remotely.
How can I get hired as a business development consultant in Hawaii with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is securing a sales coordinator, account management associate, or business analyst role at one of Hawaii's large anchor employers, such as a major hotel group, a regional bank, or a defense contractor with a Honolulu office, and then transitioning into a business development function internally. Hawaii employers including Booz Allen Hamilton and First Hawaiian Bank periodically post junior associate or rotational programs that serve as feeders into client growth roles. Building a demonstrated pipeline of local contacts and earning a Certified Business Development Professional credential strengthens a candidate's profile considerably before the first formal application.
Where can I find and apply to business development consultant jobs in Hawaii?
