Business Development Jobs in McLean: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a business development job in McLean?
McLean's hiring market for business development is dominated by government contractors, defense technology firms, and federal consulting practices clustered near Tysons Corner and the Beltway corridor. Candidates with experience translating technical capabilities into federal procurement opportunities, familiarity with the capture management process, and existing relationships within agency procurement offices have a clear edge. Targeting mid-size contractors actively pursuing new contract vehicles is one of the most effective starting points in this market.
Which companies hire business developments in McLean?
Employers hiring business developments in McLean right now include Northrop Grumman, Capital One, and Agile Defense, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. McLean's employer base skews heavily toward large and mid-size government contractors, defense technology companies, and management consulting firms with significant federal portfolios.
Are there remote business development jobs in McLean?
Yes, though remote availability in business development depends heavily on the role: client-facing capture and proposal roles tend to require in-person presence, while pipeline research and market analysis positions are more remote-compatible. About 88% of business development openings tied to McLean are remote or hybrid as of November 2026, with hybrid arrangements most common among firms whose primary clients are federal agencies in the Washington metro area.
How can I get a business development job in McLean with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in McLean is through proposal coordination or business development analyst roles at mid-size government contractors, where firms routinely develop junior talent into capture managers. Look for openings at contractors actively growing their federal footprint along the Tysons and Beltway corridor. A background in federal procurement, contracting terminology, or even internships with government-facing consulting firms gives candidates a measurable advantage when competing for these entry-level openings.
Which industries hire the most business developments in McLean?
Most business development openings in McLean sit in Consulting & Professional Services, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. McLean's proximity to federal agencies in Washington and its concentration of cleared-facility employers makes it a natural hub for contractor-side business development, driving consistent hiring across those sectors regardless of broader economic conditions.
