Business Intelligence Jobs in Indiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a business intelligence professional in Indiana?
Business intelligence roles in Indiana do not require a state-issued license, so the path runs through education and demonstrated technical skill. Most Indiana employers expect a bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science, statistics, or a related field. Earning vendor-recognized credentials such as Microsoft's Power BI Data Analyst certification strengthens a candidacy considerably. Building a portfolio of real reporting or analytics projects and applying to analyst openings at Indiana-based companies in healthcare, finance, or manufacturing is the most direct route.
How much do business intelligences make in Indiana?
Business intelligences in Indiana earn a median of about $91,470 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $58,750 for the lowest 10% to over $141,250 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire business intelligence professionals in Indiana?
Indiana business intelligence roles are posted by Cook, Hendricks Regional Health, and Twilio and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Indiana's large healthcare networks, pharmaceutical companies headquartered in Indianapolis, and regional insurance and financial services firms generate some of the most consistent business intelligence hiring in the state.
Which Indiana cities have the most business intelligence jobs?
Bloomington, Danville, and Evansville have the most business intelligence openings in Indiana. Indianapolis dominates because it serves as the corporate headquarters for major healthcare, insurance, and technology employers, while Carmel and Fort Wayne draw from nearby enterprise operations and manufacturing firms that have built out dedicated analytics teams in recent years.
Are there remote business intelligence jobs in Indiana?
Yes, and more than most fields, since business intelligence work is primarily analytical and desk-based. About 56% of business intelligence openings tied to Indiana are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how broadly these roles can be performed off-site. Reporting, dashboard development, and data modeling positions tend to be the most remote-friendly, while roles requiring close collaboration with on-site operations teams are more likely to require regular in-office presence.
How can I get hired as a business intelligence professional in Indiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for junior data analyst or reporting analyst roles, which Indiana employers in healthcare and finance commonly post as stepping stones into full business intelligence positions. Organizations such as Indiana University Health, Anthem, and OneAmerica have historically brought on entry-level analysts and provided structured onboarding. Completing a Power BI or Tableau certification, contributing to a public portfolio on GitHub, and targeting associate BI developer openings at Indiana-based insurers or hospital networks gives candidates without formal experience a credible foothold.
