Care Assistant Jobs in Delaware: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a care assistant in Delaware?
Most Delaware employers prefer or require candidates to hold a Certified Nursing Assistant credential, which is issued through the Delaware Division of Long-Term Care Residents Protection. To earn it, complete a state-approved CNA training program and pass the Delaware Nurse Aide Competency Evaluation. Some entry-level care assistant roles do not require CNA certification but will expect candidates to obtain it within a set period of employment.
Which companies hire care assistants in Delaware?
Companies currently hiring care assistants in Delaware include Nemours Children's Health, ChristianaCare, and Beebe Healthcare, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Delaware's concentration of long-term care facilities, home health agencies, and hospital-affiliated post-acute units means hiring activity is relatively consistent throughout the year.
Which Delaware cities have the most care assistant jobs?
Wilmington, Lewes, and Newark are the Delaware cities with the most care assistant openings. Wilmington leads because it is the state's largest population center and home to major health systems including ChristianaCare, while Dover and Newark draw significant demand from state government health facilities, university-affiliated care programs, and the regional assisted living and memory care communities serving those metro areas.
How can I get hired as a care assistant in Delaware with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying directly for a CNA trainee or patient care technician role at a Delaware long-term care facility, many of which sponsor on-the-job training and cover the cost of state certification. ChristianaCare and Genesis Healthcare facilities in Delaware have hired candidates from adjacent roles such as home health aide or personal care attendant. Completing a short Delaware Division of Long-Term Care Residents Protection-approved training program and obtaining CPR certification before applying gives candidates a clear edge over those who are entirely uncredentialed.
Where can I find and apply to care assistant jobs in Delaware?
