Care Coordinator Jobs in Maine: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a care coordinator in Maine?
Most care coordinator roles in Maine require at minimum an associate degree in social work, nursing, or a related health field, with a bachelor's degree preferred by larger systems like MaineHealth and Northern Light Health. While Maine does not issue a single state license for care coordinators, many employers require or prefer the Commission for Case Manager Certification credential or an equivalent. Starting in community health or patient navigation roles at a Federally Qualified Health Center is a common entry path.
Which companies hire care coordinators in Maine?
Maine care coordinator roles are posted by Spurwink Services, Optum, and Clarvida and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Maine's integrated health systems, community mental health agencies, and home-based care organizations are among the most consistent sources of openings across the state.
Which Maine cities have the most care coordinator jobs?
Portland, Augusta, and Sanford consistently have the most care coordinator openings in Maine. Portland anchors the market through the concentration of MaineHealth affiliates and community health centers, while Bangor is driven by Northern Light Health's regional campus and Penobscot County's behavioral health network, and Augusta's openings reflect its role as the state capital and hub for MaineCare administration and state agency programs.
Are there remote care coordinator jobs in Maine?
Yes, but they are less common than in purely desk-based fields because much of the work involves in-person home visits, facility coordination, and direct client contact. About 43% of care coordinator openings tied to Maine are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, with telephonic care management and utilization review roles being the segments most likely to be fully remote.
How can I get hired as a care coordinator in Maine with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for a community health worker or patient navigator role at a Federally Qualified Health Center such as Penobscot Community Health Care or Caring Unlimited, where training is typically provided on the job. Northern Light Health and MaineHealth both run new graduate onboarding programs that move candidates from medical assistant or health coach positions into coordination roles. Earning a certification through the Commission for Case Manager Certification, even before you meet full experience requirements, signals readiness to Maine employers and gives you a measurable edge in the applicant pool.
Where can I find and apply to care coordinator jobs in Maine?
You can find and apply to care coordinator jobs in Maine on Migrate Mate, which lists current Maine openings across healthcare systems, community health organizations, and state agency programs. Search the listings, find roles that match your background and location, and apply directly.
